can you wireshark to see if something is connected to the machine via smtp also try netstat to examine exe's making TCP connections. If i was near i would quite happily help you with this.

Hi Guys, I am in the market for some cabling/termination testing equipment (not immediate so special offers aren't important) and I am interested in your experiences with the kit you have / have used. @m25man I know I've you've spoken on this before! Fluke rings a bell. I am also looking at get into fibre termination, so would be interested to hear from anyone that currently does this and which kit they are using for this. I am aware of the different standards of fibre, so I would appreciate keeping to the topic of the equipment and peoples experiences of it. The money is there for this equipment, I'm not interested in saving a few pennies for inferior equipment but at the same time there is no need for extravagance. Thanks Conrad

Steve, When you say you aren't able to go anywhere? What do you mean by this? Are you expecting the VPN to map the drives for you? Conrad

what exactly is the problem? what error messages do you get? Its highly possible you are trying to access a server/resource whatever via the DNS name and you aren't resovling names via the dns servers at the other end of the VPN. We used to get our internet from west sussex, they had a cisco VPN which worked great except for because the configuration was for the whole county it the VPN client used the councils DNS servers for name resolution not the schools DNS servers. Which basically meant you were fine if you accessed stuff via the IP Address instead of the DNS name.

@localzuk suggestion would be the better option as it would avoid putting someone in a situation which technically (i know no-one really will mind) could put them in a difficult position.

probably whats the ip of the server and whats the share name ? net use \\\ /user:\ replace the < > sections to suit your server ip / user name etc.

Hi Does anyone know what the current SIMS supported Windows and SQL versions are? I'm planning a new SQL Server (not docstorage or SOLUS thats a different box) Can I use SQL 2012? Can I user Windows Server 2012? I'm doing failover clustering but I've already read capita regard that as fine as they just see a SQL box regardless of whether its Clustered or not.

no need to apologise, i found smoothwall's setup a little confusing myself. did you try the find commands?

its different on different distro's, i did say earlier its not there on smoothwall. unfortunately i'm not sure where it is on smoothwall. try # find / -name interfaces or # find / -name *eth0 to see if you get any results @tom_newton might have an answer on a different way of doing this, I would have a look at our smoothwall box but I can't until monday unfortunately.
