I disagree. Nobody is suggesting you deliberately leave obviously harmful content available and on display like your car battery example. But it's a well established principle in all facets of education that students will learn and develop better strategies and reasoning if you focus more energy on educating them and less on doomed-to-fail prevention strategies.
