Andrew Tate and school filtering
Zammo replied to sigma's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
No. As you well know. -
Hello all What is everyone using for broadband and filtering solutions these days? We are evaluating our options for our MAT and want to know what people would suggest. Ideal would be: - Leased line (obvs) with backup connection - 5G bakup connection *option* would be a huge plus - Co-Managed firewall - Cloud based filtering, bonus points if it has iOS and ChromeOS agents for students taking devices home

Andrew Tate and school filtering

I disagree. Nobody is suggesting you deliberately leave obviously harmful content available and on display like your car battery example. But it's a well established principle in all facets of education that students will learn and develop better strategies and reasoning if you focus more energy on educating them and less on doomed-to-fail prevention strategies. The KCSIE document which is the cornerstone of all our safeguarding efforts explicitly warns against over blocking. -

BYOD - Anyone following a BYOD first strategy?
Zammo replied to Zammo's topic in How do you do....it?
With parental contributions the ownership stays with the school, until the asset is released at the end -
Hello All I have been asked to look at, with un-biased eyes, how a BYOD scheme could work as opposed to: School funded 1-1 Parental Contributions Now lets set aside questions of whether everyone has a suitable device for now, has anyone else worked with/for a school that has rolled out BYOD at scale? I am aware a number of schools *allow* students in sixth form to bring their own devices on a casual basis, but I am talking more of solutions where bringing a device is expected, and leadership expect to see them used Thanks!
