  1. What exactly do you do when you start it manually?
  2. I've got some peas you can have.
  3. Oh, oops. Your original cron entry in fact says 5am.
  4. Your cron entry says 00:05: $ crontab -e # min hour dayofmonth month dayofweek command 0 5 * * * /home/user/scripts/backup.sh >/dev/null 2>&1 You probably meant 5 0 * * * .
  5. I have no idea what ibays are.
  6. It depends how you define 'data', which is presumably more then just the database.
  7. Yes, that's a temporary file for you to work in, which is syntax-checked before being installed when you exit the editor.
  8. I would have grave concerns about any kind of USB hardware that claims to do such things.
  9. Mine is a Gen7, but I gather they are broadly similar. It does for me at home: virtualisation mail (at one stage ~1000 a day) routing and firewalling, for six subnets ppp remote storage full local Debian replica mirror web services, including dlna and some hosted applications mysql a virtual WLAN controller so not quite what you're considering, but a fair workload about which it doesn't complain at all. (I did beef it up with another NIC (for routing) and some RAM.) Debian, naturally
  10. That's not quite true, at least on my G7. The carriers are marked 'Non-hot swap', but in practice I swap them hot without any problems (mdraid).
  11. Are you thinking of CUPS?
  12. You can't. It would be a gross information disclosure vulnerability if you could.
  13. This is incorrect.
  14. Then you are applying a policy unintentionally, check it is not set anywhere else in group policy. The server is irrelevant, there is no server component. The workstations matter. HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Shutdownertron, but it's just going to tell you the same information...
  15. @elsiegee40: Seems from some of our girls that when you enable the timeline view, it becomes publicly accessible regardless of other settings. Have you also found this - can you mention it in your excellent guide?
  16. I pick and choose from simple snapshots, backintime (I maintain the package of it), duplicity and bacula - in increasing order of complexity. Backintime automates dhicks' hard links trick.
  17. Post your config?
  18. For reference the answer to your original question is to use sprintf(), which returns the string for assignment instead of just outputting it. $monkeys = 1; $string = sprintf("%d monkeys ready for powdarring", $monkeys); echo $string; ?>
  19. You need them compiled for your particular kernel and processor architecture, all .ko are not the same.
  20. STRUCTURED WIRING - RJ45 - BALUM - POT ADAPTOR - CAT5
  21. 'Public Switched Telephone Network'. This isn't a master socket you're changing, is it? That belongs to BT and it's a criminal offence to interfere with it or any of the cabling up to the demarcation point.
  22. Run sudo tail /var/log/apache2/error.log (where 500 errors are saved) immediately after trying the installation.
  23. you've considered the DPA implications of using an off-shore storage provider, of course? ownCloud neatly gets round this problem.
