Sea Fever (Recording, but on many streaming platforms) The crew of a fishing trawler and their marine biologist passenger find themselves threatened by a sub-aquatic lifeform. (The Thing + The Abyss) - alien life - budget = Sea Fever. Despite that, this Irish/UK/Swedish/Belgian production is pretty good. If it's been on your radar, probably worth checking it out.

The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special (Disney+) I suppose this is a short film. It's slight, but fun. The Swimmers (Netflix) In 2015 two girls attempt to flee from war-torn Syria and head for Germany, where they want to build a new life, get their parents and younger sister safely out of Syria, and enable the middle sister to swim in the Olympics for Syria. Things don't go as smoothly as planned. Based on a true story (from a brief look, the only obvious change seems to have been made to heighten the tension in one scene) this is an incredible film. Not quite the emotional roller-coaster/weep-fest the trailer suggests but certainly has plenty of feels. Well worth a look.

Started Willow on Disney+. It was "OK", but not as much fun as the trailers suggested. Early days yet, though, so it could well take flight. The Welsh Tourist Board must be looking forward to big business next year judging by the gorgeous locations on show, though!

I'm wondering if this "cut your bill by lowering usage during these hours" isn't just a ploy to get a load more on smart meters and when critical mass is reached the way forward will be price rise between peak hours etc.

Christmas With You (Netflix) Aimee Garcia (Lucifer, Global Frequency) plays a pop star whose career is waning and needs to deliver a Christmas hit... but she can't find the inspiration. On a whim she decides to visit a teenage fan in a nearby small town who just so happens to have a widowed Dad who is writing a song. Xmas themed romcom (chosen by Mme LeMarchand as our Date Night movie) that's fractionally better than if Hallmark had made it.

1899 on Netflix. Only seen the first couple of episodes, but it's intriguing. Hoping it does have a "proper" ending though. The "revelation" about the priest in episode 2 seemed to be played as a "bet you didn't see this coming" scene, but I thought that it has been pretty much spelled out in the first ep. Also started Wednesday on Netflix. Quite fun so far. If anyone wants a "cosy murder series starring an older than normal glamorous lady" Acorn TV has Harry Wild (Jane Seymour in Dublin) and My Life is Murder (Lucy Lawless in Melbourne - though I think the location changes later). The latter is also available on other services. Neither show is particularly groundbreaking apart from showing women who are still physical after their 40s, but are OK for when you don't want anything too complicated.

Having recently looked at the prices of 1 and 2 bay machines on eBay and winced, I'm afraid that bad boy is well out of my league!

Yes, I have various alarms set. Last Sunday of the month is "update day": Make sure everything is updated including PortableApps and I use Ketarin to keep my software store up to date and SUMo to check Windows devices. First Sunday is "Backup Day". Basically, yes. The backup disk is in an (admittedly by chance) easy to grab on the way out place. In case of fire it's: Wife, cat, backup disk. @Chuckster has inspired me to look at a NAS solution. I'm thinking autosync selected items to the NAS, then a task to delete designated items from the phone but keep them on the NAS. e.g. One way "new" items from phone DCIM to NAS, delete items older than x days/weeks/months from phone but not NAS.

Phone other: Primarily the provided facilities as it's mainly just media stored elsewhere, but also quarterly to external HDD. Android Tablet, "Media" laptop and Windows tablet: Just the provided facilities as only used for media consumption. Main desktop media: Daily to HTPC. Main desktop all files: Monthly to external HDD. Portable Apps/Ventoy/"Scratch" USB: Monthly to spare external M2 duplicate and external HDD. HTPC non media, wife's laptop files: Quarterly to external HDD (very little change). Main desktop, wife's laptop and HTPC also quarterly duplicated using free VEEAM quarterly.

All the Old Knives (Amazon Prime) Chris Pine stars as a CIA staffer tasked with discovering if there was a mole in the Vienna office back ion 2012, when a hijacking went pear-shaped causing the deaths of all aboard. The prime suspect? His lover at the time (Thandiwe Newton). If the trailer looks up your alley, go for it; it's fairly intriguing. It's not a "must see" by any stretch, though.

Finally managed to get Covid and Flu boosters yesterday. The former was at a local community hospital, very well organised and the lady administering the jabs was great at it. The latter was a walk-in at Boots. I was expecting a queue as finding somewhere near us hasn't been easy, but it was walk in, fill out paperwork and done. Just as well I went in as it was their last day. Not noticed any side effects yet.

The Ghost (Netflix) Trailer pretty violent with drug use and gratuitous bikini shots. Top Interpol agent Vikram (40s going on 60s) and his half-his-age partner/lover Priya are on a job that goes wrong. 5 years later he's working as a private contractor and his only contact with Priya is professional. When his estranged "older" sister asks for help as she and her daughter are under threat, he must deploy his particular set of skills to protect them. OK but ridiculous action movie with scenes that even John Woo would have rejected as OTT. It's also hard to believe that the star could be that attractive to a supermodel type or capable of taking out armies of bad guys single handed. If you're going to watch a Tollywood (or any other) action film this year, RRR is the one to go for.

Mama chimp had C-section and baby was on ventilator for 2 days; this is the first time she has seen the baby since.
