Be interesting to see how the benchmarks pan out. I'm guessing that "6 times the performance" is only in a specially crafted ray tracing application set up by the Nvidia development team. It's actually quite suspicious we haven't seen any general gaming benchmarks yet It's kind of academic for me though as there's absolutely no way I'd pay £600+ for the "low end" 2070 nevermind any of the pricier models

The Blackpool PlayExpo sounds amazing as it's a retro special event with 120 arcade cabinets! It's such a long drive/journey for me though it's at a point where I'd probably have to spend longer travelling than I would at the event itself unfortunately! I was at the PlayExpo in Glasgow a few months ago. It was awesome playing all those old consoles and arcade machines One thing I would say is get there in good time and make a beeline for the motorised Space Harrier / Afterburner cabinets as the queues for them were crazy later in the day.

We've been offered a subscription to an online training website to cover various new systems being rolled out (Windows 10, Networking, Apple iPads/Mac Management, Google Apps, Office365, Azure, etc) and wondered which general training websites people on here found most helpful? We've used a couple of sites like CBTNuggets & Pluralsight in the past but wondered which ones folk would recommend at the moment?

Mine too. I've recently been playing through the remastered version on PS4. Hyped for the release of Valkyria Chronicles 4 in September as it's the first "proper" (given 2 and 3 were PSP only and IIRC 3 only came out in Japan) sequel we've had to the PS3 original. Haven't played it but by all accounts Valkyria Revolution on PS4 is more a final fantasy style game than the turn based strategy you'd expect so is more a spin-off. I'm just trying to decide whether to buy it on PS4 or Switch

In real world performance terms is the difference between an SSD and eMMC going to be that noticeable? I know the last surface 3 had one but I always thought the performance issues with it were down to the atom CPU rather than slow storage?

To make it usable IMO you need to go for the 8gb/128gb model and add a keyboard which takes the price up to £650. Even at the entry level of £400 i fear it's too pricey to tempt anyone in education away from Chromebooks and iPads for 1:1 rollouts though ...... Being Microsoft I'm sure the fit and finish will be excellent. Plus the specs seem pretty decent. Screen sounds good and the CPU will be fine if it's on the same level as a core M. I'm not sure a 10" display is large enough to be usable for Windows desktop apps. What's Windows 10 like on a tablet these days? Is it much improved over Window 8?

We've gone with a fairly similar setup. I'd like to keep things as standard as possible for now so don't really want to resort to things like classic shell if we can avoid it. How did you add the "File Explorer" shortcut shown above by the way as that would be a useful link for our users as well?

Surely that's the exact reason the DPO needs to be someone with enough seniority/clout to not end up being in the position of having to take action against people who are effectively their line managers and those who outrank them? As you say nobody who wants to be in a job for long is going to report a breach or take action where it implicates their line managers or senior management and puts their own position at risk. Giving someone like a technician that level of responsibility without the authority to go along with it is surely just setting them up to take the fall when something goes wrong?

I'd probably go with a Moto G6 if it was me. The hardware seems decent for the money and the bezel free screen design looks bang up to date. It's only just been released so I'd expect you'll see at least a couple of years worth of version updates for Android as well.

Seen a few emails being sent out for this today. It certainly feels like the thin end of the wedge where schools are going to eventually be forced into a paid subscription model for the features they require in MS and Google's cloud services. Odd, I've checked the GPResult and remove common program groups is definitely enabled for the account so I'm not sure why they're still appearing? I've seen a few threads on here about scripting uninstalling the UWP apps so I'll check it out. That's useful to know you can actually point the start menu shortcuts at the redirected start menu. I'd initially tried running the "export-startlayout –path .xml" powershell command on an account with the redirected start menu but it always seemed to generate an error so I'd assumed the links had to reside locally on the computer. That's far more flexible if they can be network shortcuts on a UNC path.

Do you have a link on how to achieve this using Group Policy as it would be cleaner than having to script it?

I've tried enabling that GPO setting for "Remove common program groups from Start Menu" but all the crud from the all users areas still seems to be appearing combined with our redirected start menus? Also, the default UWP apps like "Windows Store", "Groove Music", "Cortana", etc are still appearing listed even though there's no Start Menu shortcuts for them in the all users folders. Does this have to be removed elsewhere or literally uninstalled to get rid of it? I've also been experimenting with custom StartMenu.xls tile layouts but this doesn't seem to affect the redirected start menu.
