Just to clarify, I'm looking to bridge the wi-fi 800m and then connect a normal Buffalo router at the other end to cover the sports field rather than try and cover a 800m radius from the main site. Hi Currently running a staff wi-fi network using 50 x Buffalo routers running DD-WRT which gives 100% site coverage and a smaller student wi-fi network on a different VLan. The PE department are now asking if it's possible to extend the staff wi-fi to the sports fields which is about 800m away as the crow flies. It's mostly fields between the two and if you stand on tiptoes on the roof of the main site you can see the hut so a fairly good line of sight. What do the fellow geeks of this fine forum suggest as the cheapest way of extending the wi-fi that far? The hut is secure and has it's own electric supply so no issues with putting in a cabinet or leaving equipment powered on. All they want to do is run a RDP connection back to do the registers either on their ipads or netbooks. Any ideas gratefully recieved Thanks Andrew

Assuming your .reg file works manually, all you need in a batch file is regedit.exe /s pathtofile.reg Andrew

What is the size of the profile being created and is it wired or wireless? Sounds like a bloated default profile to me, check the temp folders, Java etc as they can easily increase the size by 400Mb... Andrew

The DHM wants a LED digital display of time and temperature on one of the external walls similar to the ones seen just about everywhere abroad on road signs, roundabouts, pharmacies etc. (strategically placed so us Brits can moan how hot it is...) Has anyone got one and roughly how much? My google-fu is just turning up large industrial ones at the moment. On a similar subject, can anyone recommend a good weather station that feeds back to a pc (preferably across cat5) with a nice end user interface? Thanks Andrew

Hi Just checking before I waste hours looking, I have created a google calendar and have created the embedded code and also a public html link. However I also need a search function as the calendar will be heavily populated. I don't think (dispite this being google, the king of search engines) that a search option is available for my public calendar? Is this the case or am I missing a setting somewhere? Thanks Andrew

Hi It's an Acer Veriton X275 flashed to the latest BIOS version (P01.C2_Windows) using AFUWIN.exe I've used all the command line switches needed to completely wipe and re-flash and I have got the BIOS servicable again (afuwin.exe ..\ROM\9A3A1053.ROM /p /b /c /x /n /e /k) but the System Serial Number has been wiped from the BIOS and I can't edit it to get it re-entered. This wouldn't be a problem but every time it logs in, my inventory software creates a new instance of the PC and I have to clean 20 entries a day from the database.... It's annoying rather than mission critical but it's bugging me and I want it fixed.... Cheers Andrew

Can you run a long VGA cable directly from the laptop to the projector to rule out the face plate and existing cables?

As mdench says, that looks like a loose or broken connection to me. You only need one pin or wire broken with VGA and all sorts of weird colours are projected!!!

Hi Up to now, our school calendar has been done using MRBS and it's worked fine both internally and for parent access. However, as the calendar becomes more complicated and with year groups sometimes split, it is now possible for example that Year 7 could be on two different field trips at the same time, three year 7 sides could be playing rugby at 10am on a Saturday against three different schools etc which is something MRBS doesn't handle well (or at all...). Preferably I'm looking for something free to do this (can room booking + do this?) or happy to purchase something professional. Recommendations most welcome Regards Andrew
