Oo thanks difinity! We need a number 9 :-) -
Hi, Strange question I know. Not sure if I posted in the correct section. I need a keyboard for a Compaq Mini 311 and a Compaq Presario CQ61 as the little lovelies have broken them. Only problem is, not many suppliers seem to have them, and they want about £40-50 each! They only have a broken key on each so that is a lot of money. I wondered if anyone has a broken laptop/netbook like this that they are about to bin that they might love to send to us instead? Thanks if you can!

AB tutor control - anyway to override?
SamanthaJane replied to SamanthaJane's topic in Network and Classroom Management
Thanks :-) I have done that before for something else, knew it all rang a bell! Haha I don't know what I'd do without you lot! -
AB tutor control - anyway to override?

I didn't realise that was available Jonny - really useful! Thanks. Yes, I could also do that, but I can't do that logged on as a student, and the tutor control seems to take over PCs even if they are only on the log-on screen. -

Thanks for the response - cue ludicrious question...how exactly is this done? (I am still training!) Cheers. -
Hi guys, We have AB Tutor Control installed throughout school. Occasionally we are called to a classroom to 'fix' a PC - to find the teacher is displaying work to everyone through Tutor Control. This means, we can't actually do anything until they are finished. Do you know anyway in which you can stop the display on an individual PC temporarily?

I can't understand how people can spend all that money on something which will go out of date! I can't imagine getting a free upgrade in 18 months!
-
I know there is a thread here, but it is 6 months old, so just hoping for a more up to date idea of who to use. Not sure whether we want to raise money for the school, or charity, so options are welcomed. We onoly use original cartridges - mainly HP but a few Epson and Samsung (not many) - I see that many companies don't take Epson for some reason. Also, I read on a few websites that they don't take toners - does this mean all toners including toner cartridges? Or just the bottles of toner from photocopiers for example? Thanks

Morning my fellow edugeekers. You all getting as much snow as us? :-) I am trying to find where I can buy replacement keyboards for a notebook (Compaq Mini 311) and laptop (Compaq Presario CQ61) but I am really struggling to find a place to buy which isn't ebay (not allowed :-( ) Where do you all get them from? Thanks a lot. SamanthaJane

Congratulations! Really wonderful news - and a beautiful name :-)

haha - aww!

ooo thanks for that - I had no idea. Some companies are so sneaky about this sort of thing. That is another thing off the list then! Slighty OT- Did you hear that any new products would not be coming into Europe now if they have been tested on animals? (Doesn't affect current products though)

I haev Vaseline - nice and non greasy. Although I am buying Burts Bees' next - cruelty free and I love their other products so have a good expectations.

We need to replace our library's netbooks. The question is, do we get netbooks or laptops? They all seem to be a similar price on the market now (or little difference). My list of pros and cons is; Netbook Pro's - small, portable, should hold battery life longer Netbook Con's - generally smaller processors, not really capeable of running certain softwares smoothly (we have trouble with movie maker on the current ones). We are concerned mainly about battery life though. Whatever we buy will be used essentially for about 5 hours a day (in a row) - with potential chance to charge in the middle (lunchtime). All of the laptops/netbooks I have seen in our price range (£200-£300) have an advertised battery life of about 5.7 hours. (I know this will be exaggerated!). But what is the total life of the batteries like? We need them to last for about 5 years, and the ones we have now, after 5 years of use, are pretty much useless - they don't last 20 minutes anymore. So, what do you all use? Any recommendations for or against?

Thanks guys - just put it in the 'recycling' room. Really not looking forward to sorting that room out in the future!

Leaking from the 'home' of the inks if you get me. Their home position. From what I read, it might be the waste ink pads which are overflowing - but any idea how to sort it? The printer, and I, are covered in ink :-( Help! Thanks

**bump** Does anyone know about the compatibility of check boxes in Word?
-
Trying to protect a file, (application form) which has areas to write in and check boxes. All ok, set the areas up etc. Used the check boxes from the control toolbar. All fine and dandy. Works in protected mode etc. Until I save it as compatible to Office 2003. GRRR - the check boxes won't work. When I use the legacy ones, I can't tick them. It is getting late on a Friday, and I am getting really tired of looking at it now to be fair - may come back on Monday to battle it out! Good weekend folks.

Bit of a relief! Having some unrelated problems with something else then it would appear - must just be a coincidence - we were struggling to tie them in together.

Is office 365 down for anyone else?? Having big problems here... :-/ This thread gives me hope though!

We have a selection of XP and Windows 7 machines. They all have Movie Maker 2.6 installed. Two students have made movies on the Windows 7 PCs. They are saved as MSWMM files. When trying to open on Windows 7 I get error from Windows Movie Maker 'Unspecified error' When trying to open on Windows XP I get error from Windows Movie Maker 'Windows Movie Maker cannot open this File' When I try to open on Windows 7 with the latest Movie Maker installed (I think 6?) - it tells me that it is incompatible - although I was lead to believe that movie maker was forwards compatible? Are they just corrupt files do you think? It just seems too much of a coincidence that the only 2 students to create the file on Windows 7 are the two who cannot open now.

Ok, I am half way through but a bit lost and unsure that I am doing this correctly. I have created a form - emailed it to myself at work and it is fine - fab! Emailed it to my hotmail address...not so fab. What am I doing wrong? I have sharepoint workspace 2010 - although to be honest, not the slightest clue what to do with it!

Incredible - never heard of this but appear to have it installed so will give it a whirl - all excited now! Thanks a lot
