Ok - silly question - how do I update that? I have rebooted etc.

Hey, - hope this is in the right section. We have a PC which uses the proper application for Outlook (not webbased) - she moved a folder with emails in it from one subfolder, back to 'under the inbox' so still as a folder in its own right. It has now disappeared. The emails have also gone (tried searching all items and they aren't there either). When she logs on to the web based outlook, it is where she moved it to though! So not sure why Outlook isn't showing this, especially as the move was done in Outlook. Anyone seen this before? Thanks.

Thanks everyone - have sorted it now, it was a corrupt WMI. Thanks for all the responses though.

DNS, default gateway and IP address are what I would expect them to be. Not sure about this one - perhaps a rebuild? Would rather not, so if anyone can shed anymore light I'd appreicate it- thanks.
-
Ok - thanks guys will look at this now. Nothing under internet connections at all, so see why no internet, but can't see why no other network connections on it.
-
Not sure what's going on here. I can connect to this machine through AB Tutor, so it is 'on' the network, but it is only displaying the c drive in My computer. Also, can get the intranet page, but no internet connection. Anyone seen this before?

Typing Software for whole school use?
SamanthaJane replied to SamanthaJane's topic in Office Software
Does Tux Typing work on Windows 7 okay? ETA - scrap that - tried it - it does. However I am not sure about the style of it, with regards to actually learning to type, seems more game based, which is good to have, but would prefer a bit more on the learning side. -
Typing Software for whole school use?

Oh right - what do you think of this? Sounds too good to be true. Free School Typing Tutor | Teach Typing Online | Teacher Portal I like that the students will be able to track their progress, rather than having to start over each time, or have to create their own account which isn't ideal. -
Typing Software for whole school use?

Thanks guys - I like the sound of free software but I think Tux Typing might be a bit 'young' for our kids (11-18 comprehensive) What are the online ones like Dave? I was thinking more about having something installed, but are online ones as good? -
Hope this is in the right section, wasn't sure. We are considering installing a 'learn to type' sort of software accross the school, where students and staff can improve their typing skills. Does anyone have any recommendations? Thanks.

bump incase anyone missed.

that has made me chuckle - don't think much happens like that here, but that is awesome, even getting the heads clock!!
-
Sorry, yes the whole package ideally, although if it is a huge difference in price then we could consider designing our own, although it would be simpler to get it done for us.

Not technically IT but am helping our sixth formers look into them. Do you know any reliable companies? Not used anyone before so don't want to pick a random company off the internet.

We use altec BXR1321 - they do have a subwoofer but are really portable and easy to connect. We use them for big assemblies and they are great.

[website] What the internet was made for..

Haha awesome! -
On one PC only. The icons are not there, but the programs still work, all except access, which crashes on start up. I have taken off and on the domain, deleted profiles, deleted from AD and readded. Not sure what to try next. Any suggestions? Thanks.
-
Yes it is in the correct group with the same member permissions as other PCs in the room. The office package works, when opened from a file within the students documents, but isn't showing on the start menu, in fact there is barely anything on the start menu or desktop.
-
No I can still connect to the PC remotely, so it is on the network.
-
One PC - windows 7. When students log on, it doesn't display the desktop icons correctly, no office for example, also not on the start menu. Have deleted profiles, no change - also checked WMI and that is showing as consistent. Any clues? (Just checked staff profiles and that is the same problem.)

Bump =- anyone know anymore?

Ok - I tried swapping trays but it made no difference - still jammed in the same place. :-(

Windows 7 asking for boot password to load Windows?
SamanthaJane replied to SamanthaJane's topic in Windows 7
Great. Thanks guys. Someone had set 'user password' instead of 'supervisor password' in the bios. -
No, the pick up roller is ok, I already replaced that incase that was the problem.
-
Good idea - I will try swapping trays! Don't know why I didn't think of that! Will report back tomorrow :-D
