  1. No disrespect but lease's can be complicated products so have you considered asking someone with a legal or finance background to take a look at the documents? Your expertise is in IT so let someone else use theirs to help you with this! :-)
  2. They are fantastic printers - and we still have one or two of them knocking around. When we went to a managed print system we chose the Ricoh Aficio SP4100 NL, and they were excellent. We're now about to change them again and we are getting Lexmark M1145's but haven't seen them in operation yet - however after May half-term I should have a much better idea of what they are like!
  3. No I haven't - the device doesn't have GSM capability and Three don't let me set up my phone as a wireless hotspot! Might see if anyone else can though
  4. Yep - and tried setting up both IMAP and POP accounts but without any luck at all. Just downloaded an app called Nine Exchange and I can get email using exactly the same details that I put in the other email clients! Its a bit slow but it works and it means I can get on with some other stuff. All very puzzling and annoying in equal measure!
  5. I've bypassed the proxy on the device and still no difference - its just odd that we have lots of staff picking up their email on a whole range of devices via the wi-fi without any problems!
  6. It's running 5.1.1 at the moment
  7. I'm not entirely sure but I get exactly the same errors when I use my own account on the device - and it works on my HTC M1
  8. Hi All We have a Nexus 7 that one of our property guys uses for helpdesk calls and suchlike, and he would like his school email on it too (we are on Office 365). Simple enough you would think, but no, whatever email client (including Outlook for Android) I use, I can't get it to connect. The message I get on the default email client is 'Can't connect to server' after I have entered the username (email address) and password. On the Outlook App, I get the very helpful 'an error has occurred message' I have Googled it and it seems to be a known problem but none of the solutions seems to work. I am able to logon to OWA on the tablet without any issues and we don't have the issue with any other Android devices. Any suggestions gratefully received!
  9. Have you considered cloud-based backups for these? The price you will pay depends on the amount of data and that varies a bit but we pay around £2.00 per Gigabyte (I think...)
  10. Morning I have a copy of 'Your Computer' magazine from 1983 in my draw (initially found in the loft at my mums!) so I thought I'd have a quick look through for some blasts from the past and this is just some of what I found You're going to be old...er I mean a computer veteran to remember them!
  11. We had a room full of these a few years ago and they were a bit of a nightmare with keyboard and mouse cables getting trapped and the mechanisms jamming or breaking. I wouldn't touch them!
  12. I think I have a few spare Ruckus PSU's, so if you want to borrow one then PM me.
  13. Hi All I've just upgraded to SOLUS 3 (yay ) and it mostly seems to be working however the SIMS client on the SIMS server doesn't want to launch. The icon appears on the task bar very briefly and then disappears and I can't see anything in task manager etc. Any suggestions as to what might be the issue here? As an aside can someone confirm or deny the following? 1. Any devices that dont have the SOLUS 3 agent installed (e.g. laptops that are out of school) will not be able to upgrade to the latest version until the agent is installed? I.e. they can't use SOLUS 2 as it were. 2. Any devices that do have the agent installed but are offline when the update is deployed will not get the update unless it is deployed again? Or will the agent check? Thanks! Steve
  14. We use HP but have been using the V1910's instead of the Procurves mainly because they are cheaper and the GUI is better. The Procurves are good (we have a few) but for our use I don't think they justify the extra money IMHO, and when you have 40+ to replace and your budget keeps getting reduced, every penny counts! The CLI is OK when you get used to it but it isn't particularly intuitive IMHO
  15. Thanks Phil - I will wait and see if I get a timely and useful response to my last update but I have to say I'm not that hopeful.
  16. Found it eventually. Its all setup but no updates are appearing for some reason. Will chase this with Capita although I might log another job in the hope I don't get the same support engineer that I have for my current ticket!
  17. Thanks got that - final question - the Discover service is asking for an installation path and I'm not quite sure what its after here? Cheers
  18. Thanks for this - its what I thought it should be. There is a services tab - should this populated? Edit - I did ask these questions of Capita Support but their answer was to send me a copy of the manual I was already using! What do I pay them £12K a year for again?
  19. A slight aside here but I'm setting SOLUS 3 up as I type this and its all gone OK so far but a bit stuck on the bit in the manual (page 51) about setting targets - what if anything do I need to put in the Server and Databases tabs (Environment->Targets->Servers)? Is not immediately obvious to me, but then I am probably just being thick!
  20. How do you find UniFlow? We are in the process of going through submitted proposals from and one company has chosen to offer a Canon solution using Uniflow as opposed to our preferred choice of Papercut.
  21. We use Solutions Inc in Brighton (other branches are available I believe). Always been pretty good even though I try to keep the amount of Apple Kit I buy to a minimum! http://www.solutions-inc.co.uk/
  22. I'm getting similar speeds with Veeam to my NAS and haven't been able to improve this average even with support from Veeam. At the moment we have CBT turned off (long story) so backups are taking a long time to complete.
  23. I'm on Three and have a very poor signal at home so have been using the inTouch App and whilst it does work, it can be quite flaky and occasionally it will say it needs to register despite me already having done this on a number of occasions! Having said all that, I'm on a rolling 1 month SIM only deal which has unlimited data, 3000 texts and 200 minutes of calls and costs £13 a month. Being able to use my allowance abroad is really useful - I did this in the US last year and Three text me on my return to say that the amount of data I used would have cost over £800!
  24. Hi All I am about to start the process of looking for a replacement for Schools Cash Office which we use for a number different tasks including online payments for trips, school fund and cashless catering. Whilst the support has always been good, product development seems to have been very slow to the point that the system appears very dated and clunky these days. With that in mind I wondered if you guys could recommend an alternative that does all the stuff that SCO currently does for us. Our cashless catering system is Cunningham's so any new system would need to be able to integrate with it. Thanks in advance
  25. Good point - well made :-)
