We have a CC4 system and have both HP laptops and PCs and they build fine - after we spent time messing around with drivers. The usual point of failure with drivers is the Win PE phase so I'd be surprised if it fell over at the installing additional packages stage because of them. I have had the same issue in the past and it has been various things including dodgy packages. What I would do is try building one of them to main site or even the Packagebuild folder. That way you can rule packages out. Hope this helps Steve

Well I'm sure the families of those who died will sleep well tonight knowing that - even if it is the case. I couldn't get your 2nd link to work, but the first is just quoting the Russian Defence Ministry - hardly a reliable, unbiased source of information! I suspect that it was an accidental shooting down (IFF isn't infallible and may not be used by that equipment or even get a reply if it did) but I also suspect that it was done by separatists using Russian supplied hardware. What hasn't helped their cause is the apparent reluctance to let outside experts examine the wreckage and that some of it has been taken away. If you have nothing to hide, why make things so difficult?

I woke up very early this morning to the sound of my phone buzzing. Loads of emails from our server room CliMate monitor with high temperature alarms, followed shortly after by lots more from our HP SAN saying the same thing. Slightly concerned, I phoned my colleague the Property Manager who I knew was in work and asked him to poke his head in the server room. Turns out both the AC units had tripped out and despite restarting them, they were blowing out warm air. The CliMate had recorded a maximum temp inside the cabs of 49.6 degrees! So now the server room doors and windows are open and will have to remain so until we get a portable unit tomorrow. This sort of thing only happens on weekends right?

I tend to agree. Putin is a dangerous man and harks for a return to the days when the Soviet Union was a world superpower. If he's happy to invade Eastern Ukraine (by proxy) on the pretext that Russian nationals are being subverted, then I wouldn't put anything past him. The Russians have huge natural resources and for some part have us and other countries by the short and curlies by supplying natural gas - so in some ways we need them more than they need us. However no country can exist in total isolation these days and I think that fear may be the thing that holds Putin back.

Welcome. Took us quite a while to find the solution so it's nice to be able to share with others. I have a feeling that Ruckus may have added a feature recently to stop this problem happening but I'm not 100% sure. If they did I decided not to bother using it as I'm a firm believer if ain't broke, then don't fix it!

I the same problem last year, and showed exactly those symptoms. We use Ruckus and after some digging with Smoothwall, the solution was to set up a RADIUS accounting server on the Ruckus, which just pointed to the Smoothwall box with the same settings as the RADIUS itself. No need to do anything on the smoothie itself and get folk to restart their iPads if they were still getting problems. Hope this helps. Steve

I assume you will be using the RADIUS server to allow your domain laptops to connect wirelessly? If so it's fairly straightforward and there are a number of really useful guides out there to help you - Googling it will bring up plenty of hits I carried out the same exercise last year albeit on a Windows 2003 server and it went well. I need to to move it to a 2012 server in the summer holidays so I'm in the same boat as you and will need to dig out those guides again. The main thing I found that helped me was to make sure logging was turned on for the RADIUS server. It saved me a lot of time! I will try to find the guide I used and post the link here

We looked at SAM last year but decided against it because the one thing it couldn't do (easily at least) was check loan items in and out. We use that facility a lot and decided that despite the other shortcomings of Wasp, it was worth sticking with because of that.

I bought a fitbit flex a couple of weeks ago after researching it a bit, and it's great. It certainly does motivate you to get up and move around even though I run most days. The app and the website are really good. They aren't terribly expensive when compared to other gadgets like phones and tablets et al and if they help you to lose weight or exercise a bit more then I think it's a small price to pay! Edit Does anyone have any comments on the sleep pattern monitoring and how accurate it is? I find it can be hard to put into sleep mode at times

@EduTech I have added and confirmed our staff email domain to our existing and all is OK. However regarding setting the domain from accepted to shared, I assume you mean new (staff) domain? There is an option to change it to internal relay but I am still getting NDR's for email sent from student email accounts (.org) to staff email accounts (.org.uk). Its fine the other way round. Any suggestions? Thanks Steve

Hi All We use our Smoothwall box to provide RADIUS authentication for the BYOD wlan on our network. Just recently (and almost certainly since we had our smoothie replaced a few months ago) we have been getting this message - An alarm 'AAA Server Unreachable' was triggered. Details: Radius server [172.25.56.3] has not responded to multiple requests. [This server may be down or unreachable.]. The message will appear at random times of the day and there doesn't seem to be a pattern. I've looked at the Smoothwall logs and everything seems to be fine and there are plenty of people connected to the BYOD wlan. There doesn't appear to be any way of fine tuning this alert and I'm wondering if anyone has had this issue or has any suggestions before I contact Ruckus. Thanks Steve

Well I'd ask the question as to how you were going to bring the network down this way? It would be much easier to delete a few important files here and there or to bring something nasty in on a memory stick. Apart from that, the report doesn't really prove an awful lot except that it hasn't logged anything. I'd speak to your HR people and tell them of your concerns and keeps records of all communications between you and the NM. Incidentally have you approached him at all about this and why do you think he wants to get rid of you?

If you think its the RADIUS then the Smoothwall Logs -> Logs and reports » Realtime » System and select Authentication Service, you should be able to see what's going on when a device connects

I have the same setup and it works perfectly but I'm not at work at the moment to compare it with yours. It could be a vlan issue but the first place to look is the Smoothwall logs. There is a really good guide to setting it up somewhere on Edugeek so do a quick search for Smoothwall and BYOD. If you can't find it then let me me know as I downloaded it.

All of our new projectors are wired into the network - as opposed to wireless, but this is really for management use rather than to project. We use Air Server to enable Apple devices to display on the whiteboards. It's a damn site cheaper and easier to set up than Apple TV!

Great original post... I will have to share it later as I have a few friends who could do with reading it. And one of my sisters who constantly posts stuff about her or her kids being ill (and I don't mean with bubonic plague, just a cold or flu) I think the article actually reveals quite a lot about us a as a society these days and as someone who loves people watching, I find it fascinating. Facebook for me is great for keeping in touch with people you can't see or haven't seen for a long time - Ex shipmates from the time I was in the Navy for example. My pet hate at the moment is the vines or memes that always seems to start with "this seems like an ordinary (insert noun here) but what happens next MADE ME WET MY PANTS/SPONTANEOUSLY COMBUST/CRY LIKE A BABY" Why are are shouting at me and who are you? Anyway must get off her and go for a run then write some songs then have an amazing time with my my amazing partner Ps - I am right in thinking that Facebook did used to have a dislike button?

Thanks James - your reply was really helpful. I had originally thought that I would host the staff email on the same portal but I wasn't sure how this would work in terms of dirsync. I was also under the impression (wrongly it seems) that a password change was needed to enable the sync to work - which is why I didn't want to include the students as part of the process. When it was suggested to me that 2 portals would be best in terms of management I assumed it was because of dirsync but what you say makes sense. So the long and short of all this is that I will stick to the one tenancy. I'm right that if I register the domain now it wont have any affect until the MX and DNS records are changed?
