You need to be careful with USB to serial adapters. There are a lot which are based on fake Prolific PL2303 chipsets. With those, the newer drivers that work on Windows 8 upwards don't work. Even when you do manage to find a genuine one, the Prolific chipsets aren't all that anyway. You're best hunting out one with an FTDI chipset, they're a lot more reliable. I've got something that looks like this and it just works, no drivers needed. That said, the 2530 has a micro-USB port built into it, which is used as a console port already. Windows 10 doesn't need drivers for it in my experience and any old micro-USB cable with its data pins connected works perfectly well.

Coronavirus: General discussion (see opening post for rules)

This will be the 13th Christmas that I've been with my partner and every year that we've been together, she's gone up to her parents in Scotland. Most years, I've gone up as well. She is really upset that it's looking likely that we probably won't be able to but because of all the mixed messages and lack of clarity, we have no idea and as Mike says, it's impossible to plan anything. -

Doesn't your SLR have a diopter on it, so that you don't need to use glasses? Mine does and it's both old and not especially high end (Canon EOS 350D) -

Surely a telephoto lens would be better? At least then you can stay > 2m away and take full advantage of the resolution of the sensor? -
This is the point. Hyper-V doesn't run on top of Windows Server. Windows Server runs on top of Hyper-V when Hyper-V is enabled. That's the case, even when you're running the Core edition or Hyper-V Server. It is a Type 1 Hypervisor.
-
Which is why type 2 hypervisors like VirtualBox and VMware Workstation don't work on Windows when HyperV is enabled.

MS Endpoint Manager (Intune) v Intune for Education
Norphy replied to buzzard's topic in Cloud Services
Can I just confirm that if you license Intune for Education, you still get the full capabilities of Intune? Asking because there is a massive price difference between the two on the CSP and I don't want to buy IfE if it's gimped. Cheers. -
I watched Zootropolis with my son, again on Disney+. It was quite good, some good jokes and pop culture references; having drug manufacturers called Woolter and Jesse made me laugh and so did some of the other jokes like the in-universe band and movie names At times is was maybe a bit heavy on the moralising but no worse than any other Disney film I guess.

I agree it would have made more sense to ship the phones with USB A cables, if they're not shipping bricks any more. That said, horses for courses. I had an iPhone 5 and I still have the original lightning cable. And the one that came with my iPhone 7, and the dock to lightning cable I bought when I got the iPhone 5.
-
No, but if they're Apple device users previously, they probably have a standard lightning cable.
-
Not really, considering that people have been buying smartphones and other USB charged devices for the past ten+ years and probably have a pile of USB chargers as tall as them.

I've always been able to download firmware updates for Aruba switches without having to register an account. At least, those switches that used to be Procurve or 3com, anyway. Wireless stuff is a different question.

Similarly, my girlfriend and I were watching the Blacklist which had an episode which featured "London" for a few minutes. The police cars appeared to be American Chevrolet cars with British style reflective coverings and what looked like Spanish number plates on them. The windscreens were blacked out, presumably so that you couldn't see the steering wheel was in the wrong place

I got a notification on the iOS app this morning saying that the risk level in the area has changed. I'm nowhere near Lincolnshire but possibly that's what you got as well?

The fact that the linked page suggests it's based on Flash is a bigger problem I think
