  3. A lot of Youtubers are sponsored by ExpressVPN, including my favourite one, Uncle Roger https://www.expressvpn.com/uncleroger I've not used them myself so I don't know how good they are. My password manager also includes a subscription to HotspotShield. I can say that their app looks good but I've not tried to use streaming services with them.
  4. Depends on the service. Services like Netflix and Prime are very good at detecting VPNs. That said, there are DNS services like Playmo.tv which work for other TV services. I used to use them until Netflix stamped down on it. /le edit Or are you talking about accessing British services from overseas?
  5. Some Aruba/Procurve switches have an extra port on them that's not part of the 24/48 and isn't a console port. It's a management network port which you can plug into a management network and SSH to, even if none of the other ports aren't in use. I can't remember if the 2530 is one of those or not (The 2930M is, as is the 5400R Series), but the reason I asked is I've on more than one occasion got those ports mixed up. Have you tried dialling down the speed of the serial port to 9600 baud? Have you tried another console cable? Could be the one you've got has developed a fault.
  6. Does the 2530 have a micro-USB port on the front of it? That can be used as a console port as well. That might be worth trying? Stupid question: Some Aruba switches have an OOB network port on them, outside of the normal 48. You're not plugging your console cable into that, are you?
  7. Seeing two of these flying around the bird feeder in the garden. "Oh there's a pair of..." And the MIL being in the house at the time. I got some funny looks there, I can tell you.
  8. That is ridiculous and stupidly over-engineered for a face mask but at least it's not trying to mash two otherwise unrelated concepts together. It's like someone at Dyson said "Hey, let's make a set of wireless cans" but then someone up above said "Sure, as long as you can fit a fan in there somehow".
  9. Dyson headphones come with air vacuum for mouth https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-60927032 I… what?
  10. The difference is going to be that those HPE drives are either going to be (NL)SAS drives, or they're going to be 10000rpm drives, or they're going to be certified for HPE storage devices. Plus HPE puts one hell of a markup on their drives anyway. Those EXOS drives are closer to commodity SATA hard drives than they are to enterprise hardware from the likes of HP and Dell.
  11. I used to hate those clocks so much. The college I used to work for bought a whole load of them when they built their new campus. Like all modern buildings, it was concrete around a steel cage, so in effect a giant faraday cage. Nothing would get through, no mobile phone signal and definitely no signal for those things. That didn't stop the teachers asking IT to set the time on them, even though it definitely wasn't an IT problem.

    Snow 2022

Well, after the glorious sunshine and near enough 20 degree temperatures that we had at the weekend, it's now bloody snowing out there. Only a light dusting and I don't see it settling but even so...
  13. Meh, it's Microsoft's bandwidth, I'm sure they can cope Link sent
  14. OK, converting it now. I'll send you instructions over a PM, I don't want Edugeek to be attacked by a ravenous hoard of Apple lawyers...
  15. My five year old has been exhausted this week. That can be directly pinned on the clocks changing and his sleep cycle being messed up.
  16. Do you have a DVD writer anywhere? I can see if I can make an ISO of the installer for you to burn?
  17. I'm also pretty sure that the same steps should work with a DVD-R, should the Mac not be able to boot from a USB stick. There's no reason why it shouldn't though.
  18. It sounds like you've done this already, but here we go: Step 1) On a handy Mac, grab Lion installer from Apple website here: https://support.apple.com/kb/DL2077?locale=en_GB Step 2) Open the DMG. Copy the PKG file somewhere, then use The Unarchiver to extract it. Step 3) In the extracted contents, there's another PKG file called InstallMacOSX.pkg. Right click on that and click "Show Package Contents". There's a DMG in there called InstallESD.dmg. Open that DMG to mount it. Step 4) Put a USB stick into your Mac and open Disk Utility. I'm on a Mac with High Sierra at the moment, earlier or later versions will look different. Find your USB stick and click the Erase button. Format it with Mac OS Extended format and choose the GUID Partition Map scheme. Give it any label you like. Step 5) Find your newly formatted USB Stick volume in the Disk Utility, right click on it and press Restore. Tell it to restore from "Mac OS X Install ESD", then press the Restore button. Step 6) Wait an indeterminable amount of time for the DMG to get restored to the USB Stick. It should then turn into a Lion USB stick and be bootable. Plug it into the Mac you want to install Lion on, reboot it while holding down the Option key and wait for the boot menu to appear. With luck and a following wind, you should see the Lion installer in your bootable image list. Step 7) ??? Step 8) Profit I've just done this and the USB stick shows as a bootable volume in the Startup Disk panel in System Preferences so I assume it should be bootable.
  19. I think that 1909 in the file name there must be a typo, as 1909 wasn't a LTSC build. Reference: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/get-started/windows-server-release-info
