GF and I watched Black Bird on AppleTV+ a couple of weeks back. It was very good, well worth the watch.

That's not right, not any more. You can assign VPP apps to Macs from Intune now. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/mem/intune/apps/vpp-apps I won't deny that there are better tools to manage Macs from, but Intune is just about good enough for a lot of people now.

PDA of some description?

Yes, the original gumstick: I probably would have accepted the first gen Apple remote control as well:

You could post it as an attachment? -
The DS9 episode of Lower Decks did not disappoint. That was pretty much perfect!

Dropping Site to Site VPN - Unifi & Sonicwall
Norphy replied to abillybob's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
Do you have any other monitoring in place? What is the CPU/RAM usage like on the unifi device? How much traffic is it passing? Is there an errant device at the care home producing excessive traffic, or something that has been compromised? Is the Unifi widget connected directly to the internet or is it going through a BT router first? -

Not seen you in a while! Are they all using the same ISP? Could it be something on the ISP's end which is killing the VPN traffic? -
It's a company laptop so I can't take it apart. I suspect the enclosure is drawing more power than the laptop can cope with so hopefully something with an external power source wouldn't have this issue. I could well be wrong though.

Can anyone recommend a SATA USB 3 enclosure for a 2.5" device, preferably one with an external power connector? I have one at the moment, it's got an SSD in there but every so often the device gets dropped and everything attached to USB stops working, including my Bluetooth devices which is a bit of a bugger when you're in the middle of a meeting. This only happens when the SSD is under load (I use it to store development VMs) so I suspect the USB bus on the laptop is getting overloaded. Any suggestions?

Difference was with that, the students had twice as long to get their lunch as I did.

Yeah, that's confused me in the past as well, albeit in the opposite direction. What HPE/Aruba call a trunk is what's called a Link Aggregation Group in everyone else's world, whereas as far as I can see a Trunk in everyone else's world is essentially an uplink port.

Getting an extract of user names is easy enough but unless you're syncing from AD and you have reversible encryption enabled with your passwords (which is not the default setting), you won't be able to extract the passwords without breaking the hashes. You'd have to reset their passwords. If you want to do it en-masse, you could do that with a PowerShell script.

Not that current but:

I don't ever recall checking to be honest, but considering that the fat client is essentially a wrapper for the browser client in Electron I would expect similar problems, yes.

Just bear in mind that doing this will absolutely destroy the performance of the Teams client. I remember adding being asked to add teachers to every class team in their subject or year, then being asked to take them out again very soon afterwards.

You mean we’re not already???

Stupid question of the day: The time period in which the Queen reigned was the Elizabethan period. Before that, Georgian. Edwardian, Victorian etc. what will this era be called? ‘Charlsian’ sounds a bit stupid…

I've tried it a couple of times now and I just can't get into it. I Love the books, I don't get on with the TV show at all.

I used to make a point of collecting shillings and florins when I found them in my change when I was younger. That was until they shrunk the 5p and 10p coins, anyway.

Filtering for home and children
Norphy replied to Sonic007's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
I think the software is called Smoothwall Monitor but I'm not sure, I've been out of education for more than a year now. I did have a good conversation with @tom_newton at BETT a couple of years back about it. -

This is why Smoothwall and the like are starting to move away from SSL interception and are starting to use screen scraping software -
As I recall, the big ones are: AB Tutor Lanschool Impero NetSupport School Senso There's also Veyon, as previously mentioned. I have direct experience with NetSupport, AB Tutor and Lanschool and I've trialed Impero and Senso. In my opinion, NetSupport is the best of the ones that I've tried. AB Tutor was also good but a little more limited. I didn't like Lanschool so much, I found it somewhat esoteric to configure. When I trialled Impero, I found that the product was quite good but the salespeople put me off massively. They were relentless and had to be told repeatedly to leave me the hell alone. In the end I complained to the company rep who was on here at the time. After that experience I swore never to use them.
