Looking further at it… I didn’t take wiring kits into account for towbars. It looks like getting a towbar fitted, plus the required wiring is probably more of a pain in the hoop than it’s worth. You have to get it coded once it’s fitted as well. It’s not as if I’m ever going to tow a caravan or a trailer with it, so spending £300+ on a towbar and wiring kit alone most likely isn’t worth it. Roofbars then!

I expect it’s the setup for season two. Feature request please admins - spoiler tags!

That’s actually a good point, does it count as a modification? I hadn’t thought of that

Around here, there are a lot of bike trails and now that my son is getting into riding his bike, I’d like to go and ride with him on them. Trouble is, they’re not within biking distance so I’d need a bike rack for my car, a 2015 Octavia hatch, so I can get us and our bikes there. According to my research, a strap mounted tailgate rack won’t work with my car because of the shape and/or construction of the tailgate so that leaves either a roof mounted or towbar mounted rack. I’ve been down the rabbit hole of costing either solution and either way, I’d need to by either a tow bar or roof bars as well as the mounting hardware and as far as I can see, the cost would be roughly the same either way. I can see advantages of both solutions, the roof solution would be easier to install than a towbar but I would imagine mounting the bike would be more awkward. Given that, I’d like to ask the cycling hive brain on here which they think is the better solution. What would you go for? Ta [emoji4]

Ahsoka has started quite well.

Somewhere else on the Internet, possibly Reddit, there is a post which says You can't impose your tastes on other people, no matter how much you want to. It's not even slightly fair to try. The only real compromise is to rotate what you're listening to; spend half of the journey listening to what you want and half what she wants.

One of the good things about working from home for a company based in England when you live in Scotland is that you get the English bank holidays during May and August, which are different to the bank holidays in Scotland. This means my son will be at school while my partner and I are off work. It means we get a rare day together

That is a bad idea™. You'd have to keep a database of authorised MAC addresses, keep it up to date and contend with the fact that it's trivial to spoof a MAC Address. Plus, a lot of devices now allow you to change your MAC Address on their wireless cards to limit tracking. This isn't worth the headache. If you want to limit connections to your network to known and authorised devices, you're MUCH better off using 802.1x authentication, similar to WPAx Enterprise networks on your wireless systems. You'd have a certificate on your devices to verify their authenticity. That cert would be issued from an Enterprise CA via an MDM or by GPO. You'd have a RADIUS Server on your network to authenticate them and you'd need a switch that supports 802.1x. Can't speak for other manufacturers, but with Aruba at least, you'd need a L3 switch.

I’m sure you’ve already thought of this, but make sure it’s only applied to shared machines in classrooms, otherwise your office staff will come back to blank profiles after they come back to work after the weekend and/or holidays.

My partner and I have been watching Only Murders In The Building on Disney+ I like it a lot and I think she does to. Steve Martin and Martin Short are almost always worth watching, especially when they're acting together and Selena Gomez is surprisingly funny too. It has an excellent supporting cast and the story is strong. Very much recommended. Have been watching Good Omens Season 2 as well, so far so good.

I watched the first two episodes yesterday. Hearing the theme song ahead of a new episode made me irrationally happy

Excellent. This and Wandavision were the Marvel series that I enjoyed the most out of those that I watched, so I’m happy the House of Mouse are making another series of that.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0B8ZRSY47/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Lenovo 27" Monitor for £120. With a £70 Amazon voucher I've got from work, this is quite the bargain! I'll be able to stop using ye olde radiation kinge 2010 27" iMac in Target Display Mode.

I know it's off topic, but I wouldn't use RAID 6 for anything apart from backup or CCTV storage. It utterly destroys write speeds with its extra parity calculations. RAID 10 would be my preference. RAID 50, maybe, if that's too expensive in terms of disks.

So, it's been a looooooooong time since I'd had anything resembling a gaming computer. The last time I did any serious PC gaming the GeForce 9800 GTX was the new hotness, so hopefully that gives you some idea of how out of touch I am about these things. Anyway, the only computers I have at home at the moment are my work laptop and a mid 2010 27" iMac which I suspect is on its last legs. The school holidays have started up here and my 7 year old son has been going to some "Lets get eSporty" camps while my partner and I are working, which appear to be LAN parties for children so far as I can see. He's enjoying it, so I'm thinking that maybe I should go about getting a gaming PC but I don't have a lot of money to spend on one. What is considered a good budget GPU these days? I don't want to spend more than £500 on the entire computer, preferably not even that much to be honest. Are built in APUs worth it these days? Don't care if it's Nvidia, AMD or Intel.

Wanted was quite good, that's on Netflix here but more than 20 minutes. My partner and I watched The Twelve, which was pretty good too, if a little slow. That's on ITVX. I really liked Mr Inbetween and that is 20-25 minutes. It's on Disney+ here. All Aussie shows, maybe they'll change your partner's mind @FN-GM Failing that, Neighbours has started on Amazon again

Threads: Ten million join Meta's Twitter rival, Zuckerberg says https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-66112648 Have you seen the access they’re asking for on the iOS app? I assume they’re asking similar on Android. They’re insane! Why in the name of God do they need my health information for a Twitter clone?

Don't know if it's just me, but this: won't go away when I click on the X next to "Remove this notice" I wouldn't mind, but the damn thing is huge! It takes up like a third of the vertical space on a 1440p monitor!

Looks like they've set Conditional Access policies, but just what they are is pretty hard to guess. You'd have to contact their M365 team and find out.

I like Scalzi in general, but the Interdependency books are very good.

I think Disney would do a better job with showing Star Trek, to be honest. Ever since Netflix lost the rights to Discovery it's been a complete manure show, in terms of streaming.

Cost of living crisis 2022 - what have you cut back on?
Norphy replied to Ditto's topic in General Chat
Holy hell. Is there not an ombudsman or something that you can contact to look at this? That's beyond the pale.
