Watching Techmoan this morning and it appears that support and devices to play CD's are now gettig thin on the ground with Sony no longer making CD players, or supporting them on their consoles! An interesting vid this one: I wonder how long it will be before my CD collection goes the way of my VHS tapes

All the music!

I have to admit that trying to stay hydrated is a problem atm. With it being so hot your sweat evaporates quickly so you don't realise just how much fluid you are losing, and the only indicator you get is your wee colour. Even so I've been tanking back water like there's no tomorrow but still can't seem to play catch-up!

I'm a big fan of Fish - (very)formerly of Marillion When you search for him you aways get Reel Big Fish!

Thought I'd indulge in a bit of mellow musical and other stuff this afternoon on Spotify whilst working, until one track came up as a bit of a shock! Can you spot it?

Quick historical note. More than a few women who were among the early settlers in North America left their settlements and moved in with the native Americans. They were much more easy going and the women didn't have to wear thick uncomfortable European clothing!

Finished watching series one of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel the other day. Definately one of those shows you kick yourself for not watching earlier, and totally not what I expected. I'll be starting season 2 as quickly as I can.

My sons mouse died yesterday, so ran off to Amazon and found this - https://www.amazon.co.uk/SteelSeries-Rival-Wireless-Battery-Bluetooth/dp/B08GDDZML8/ref=sr_1_23?crid=1Q63MBHR113RR&keywords=wireless+led+gaming+mouse&qid=1686763535&sprefix=wireless+led+gaming+mouse%2Caps%2C107&sr=8-23 £29.99 for a wireless Steel Series gaming mouse. That'll do nicely.

Seriously, dont! - https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/picking-your-nose-may-increase-alzheimers-dementia-risk Whilst this may not be the be all and end all of the causes, it's nice to see that scientists are still looking into it and coming up with genuinely useful advice. Oh, and...

I think I'll have to put out some water for the birds on my birdtable this morning. It was 29 degrees in my home office yesterday at 5pm, and even though it is forcast to be slightly cooler (26 degrees) today I suspect it'll be higher, especially as it's over that in the house right now!

I am very much looking forwards to this. Lee Pace's monologue to Astra in the final episode of the last season was amazing!

If you could send us some of that rain it would be much appreciated!

Well, that was a bad nights sleep! The heat plus very high pollen levels made it very un-fun. We had thunder but it was just south and east of us, still it managed to rain for about 2 mins later on. I have to go and check on my brothers Frenchie at lunch (I usally walk him one or two days a week at lunch when my brother has to go into the office). He's not cut out for the heat and he's just going to be let out into the garden and refill his water bowl.

Went for a bike ride at lunch. That was a mistake! Will have to see what the 7:30am temp is like tomorrow.

Is it on the roof outside?!

I recall that back in the day, the server room WAS the IT office, and had aircon. May explain why my hearing is shot now!

Having a look around, it's very rare that we here in the NW are warmer than other UK locations, but we certainly are going to be for the next week or so!

I found this very handy after seeing a whole raft (turns out they are a 'confusion') of Chiffchaffs the other day near my house - https://blog.gardenwildlifedirect.co.uk/collective-nouns-for-birds/

So who else is melting already today? I'm in the office at home with a fan on me and desperately trying to get my work done before midday, at which point I plan to melt! I have to admit though, we had here, in my part of Lancashire, a few thunderstorms and a nice downpour (at about 5am Sunday) so far, but that just ads to the humidity later on. It got to 30 yesteray, and is going to be the same for at least the next week or so. I do best in snow and ice! Stay cool people!

A problem you have with over inflated tyres is that you wear out the centre first (they bulge in the middle depending on tyre type) and it also reduces your grip. @Norphy, did you check your tyre pressures after a long drive? The air in tyres expands as it gets warm, increasing tyre pressure. TBH, I just set my front and rear at 35psi as there is only one point difference between the two.

There are a few games mentioned here - https://www.bmet.ac.uk/our-courses/courses-for-16-19-years/esports-academy/ It may well be that there are 'other' ways these games can be run and maintained for a course leagally, not requiring lots of individual accounts. I may just reach out to a few games companies tomorow to get some answers.

I thought this was next week, I'd best get out and buy it a card ASAP before it gets home! I'll probably end up just taking it out to a local micro-pub and buying it a kebab tonight though. Won't be long before it want's out of the cloud and demands it's own server, but still payed for by us. Seriously though, thanks everyone, all 110k of you, and here's to the next 18. I'll make sure it's not too rough in the morning.
