I haven't tried - I'm afraid to! The last 2 servers I restarted have lost their network and I need to be able to access the Hyper-V server so I can still access the DC & Exchange servers to work on them. The odd thing is, the network on the Virtual Machines works going out, just not coming in.

I've just done a windows update on my Exchange Server (Hyper-V, Windows Server 2008 64bit, Exchange 2007) restarted them and... Something has gone funny with the network. I can ping any other machine from the Exchange Server, but nothing can ping or connect to the Exchange Server. So I figure the update has changed something on the firewall, open up the firewall settings, "The firewall service is not running". So I go along to services, try and manually start the Stopped Windows Firewall Service (which is set to automatic) and I get this an error message, go and look in the System Log Files and this is the error: the windows firewall service terminated with service-specific error 13 (0xD) I've just tried to uninstall the last 3 updates, didn't solve anything Anybody else experienced this? Anybody have any ideas on how to fix this? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Stuarte, Did you ever find a working driver for use with Ghost? We've got 20 of these laptops now when I need to setup and I can't find a driver for the Marvel Yukon card to get the image/clone the others. Thanks!

Sorry to go a bit off topic... The biggest issue our staff have with using their laptops at home is that everything is incredibly slow, logging on take forever for once, and generally everything is slow. Are there any settings etc you would recommend I look at?

Hi everyone Is there anyway of setting up an email address in Exchange that can forward to another staff member, but in the process, strip the original senders details? We're starting some "Stop Bullying" campaign and the life skills teacher would like students to be able to email her anonymously and she posts replys on a blog. That's actually not a bad idea, but how do you handle the backups for your Domain Controller?

I've been looking at the specs etc on the their website and it does actually seem to bw what I'm looking for, relatively simply, not that expensive. One question tho, you can set it to just backup specific files can't you?

I need some help with some suggestions for Backup Software please. I know there was a similar thread a while back (http://www.edugeek.net/forums/how-do-you-do/11438-backup-software.html) which gave some suggestions, but I need some more details please. We currently have: 1x Windows Server 2008 DC [Would need to backup system state etc...] 1x Exchange Server 2007 on Windows Server 2008 [Would need to back Mailbox Store] 1x EduAdmin Server (Our School DB system) [Would need to back a single folder (files are stored as .db files on the HDD)] 1x FileServer [Would need to backup multiple directorys & files] 1x SQLServer [Would need to make SQLServer Backups] Ideally I would like to backup to a shared HDD on the network (which would be mirrored with another one offsite) BackupNT used to be perfect, unfortunatly Windows Server Backup doesn't do selected folder backup, it seems to be all or nothing. Thanks PiqueABoo, I'll have a look and see, the odd thing is, there are ALOT of laptops doing it and they're all using the latest drivers.

I have attached 2 pictures here to show you what I mean, The first picture "Network_Settings" shows that even tho the lan cable has been unplugged, windows doesn't seem to detect this and still has an ip address assigned to this interface. Even tho the wireless connection is connected and active, nothing on the laptop will connect via the network (I suspect it's still trying to communicate via the lan connection). Picture "Network_Settings2" shows what happens when I do a "Ipconfig /Release" Both interfaces are assigned IP addresses of 0.0.0.0 Surely windows should detect that the lan connection is not connected and not assign it any address at all? When doing an "ipconfig /renew", the wireless connection gets a new IP address within seconds and begins communicating, however the process seems to freeze for 30 seconds, I'm guessing it's *trying* to get an IP address via DHCP for the Lan connection even tho it's not connected. Anyways, any suggestions would be appreciated

Quick question, I think I already know the answer (which I don't like) so I thought I'd double check with you guys We have about 10 Wireless Access points around our campus, all set to WPA-PSK. This allows me to connect staff who only come in a few days a week, or a guest user etc, very quickly and easily by just typing in the password - so I'd like to keep it this way if possible. For all our staff with laptops who do log onto the domain. I've been looking through the "Wireless Network (IEEE 802.11) Policies" options on Server 2008 and I see that you can add wireless networks, set the security type and choose the network preference. However, when I pick WPA-PSK, there is never an option to put in the password. Does this mean that it'll add the connect to everybody's laptop, but I'm going to have to manually type in the password on every laptop everytime they log onto one of the APs that they haven't been to before?
