we've still not found a fix but have found a work around with using Impero. Selecting the black screen computers, forcing a run of explorer.exe and that forces the logon.

removed the redirect. Still got blackscreen.

No, I wouldn't, I'm trying to work out the logistics of affording a first month of working there. It's saved in my 'jobs folder' and I'm redoing my CV today

I set up a redirection for the 'libraries' folder on Win7 to go to their home directory, well, I've put one inplace not that it appears to work. Damn! Now I wonder if that's it. I'm off till Tues 5th but I'll remote in from home and message the NM and see if removing it will help.

Yep, but it doesn't do it for every user on every machine. Someone can log off, log back in and the issue is gone (no reboot needed)

Yeah, that was our thought grey, we've got a old legacy server we p2v'd when we went virtual. It used to have Ranger on (not 100% convinced it's gone, it's a nightmare to get rid of) but we have 2 servers handling DHCP. Wondering if a different one is picking up the problem ones. No way of testing really as it's only happened with Student accounts so far and they're locked down

No, it's always good to have another opinion! someone can walk right in and see what you've been looking at for days! Again theres no pattern. Sometimes its the first user to log in, sometimes with only 60 users on, half of them might have this problem, other times 300 can login at the same time and none get it.

Thanks, We've hit a stuck point really, there seems to be no logic or pattern in it at all. They sit at the same computers in the same lessons and one day they'll get it, the next they won't.

Thanks for replies, Steven, we don't appear to have any viruses onsite and we don't run ranger. The documents window is being forced open by enabling sticky keys. Oaktech, We can hit Ctrl+Alt+Del and sometimes it brings up a window we can cancel and explorer loads as usual, sometimes that doesn't do anything either and they just remain on the black screen with the mouse cursor. These are on Wired pcs, though I have been made aware it's happening on some of our Win8 tablets That update was all I could find on it too, hasn't fixed our issue here.

It's only been happening in the past month or so, but explorer.exe takes a while to load (anywhere between 5-20minutes). They are using sticky keys to get a window open and all drive/printer mappings are fine *set through GPO's*. It's not user or computer specific. Totally out of idea's here as there seems to be no pattern in it. Anyone had similar?

I've never come across this before while using sysprep, but I'm getting a 'fatal error' while trying to sysprep my Win7 workstation. After an attempt to up the number of times a workstation can be syspreped (as I've come across that before) the error still appears.
