  1. Legend, thanks buddy will give that a try used to be you could give 'cookies' on another forum i used to use, however all i can give you is a 'thank post' lol
  2. Exchange 2k7, sorry see where you were coming from now. This is our problem, we do this however if you then take it off the network and connect to an external wifi, then in turn put it back onto the network as if you were walking back into work from home it loses the external webmail address from the settings.
  3. yes fine, no problems at all. However we essentially want it to all run through outlook without the user having to go to webmail
  4. Really loved the look of this, however i almost feel like i might just wait for the projected ipad mini to be honest. Only from a personal point of view if i break down what i will use it for it will be ideal. Sadly i think the MS Surface will price itself out of the tablet industry given they dont really have a name for themselves already. Putting it at Apple prices most people wont want to take the risk.
  5. Sorry after reading this it wasnt so clear. Essentially we can connect internally on the wireless using companyname.internal however when you take it to an external website it wont connect. This is rectified by going to the advanced settings and and adding what would be the external address https://webmail.companyname etc etc primarily this isnt great but the moment you enter back onto the domain it resets the entry back to the exchange setting. Is there anyway to make the webmail entry stick as this will obviously work on both the network wifi and also the users home wifi without issue. Sorry hope this makes more sense now Many thanks
  6. Hi All. I am having some trouble with setting up outlook 2k11 on the mac. When i have added it on the network and then take it to an external network it then wont work, i then change the details over to the webmail settings to allow it to see the exchange externally but that wont stick when i come back into the domain effectivley resetting all that i have just done. Any ideas?
  7. Has anyone experienced the problem and or found a solution to when controlling a virtual machine in VMWARE the num lock constantly goes on and off??
  8. Sorry thought i would reply to this and add my input although i can see it has twisted and turned since it was last posted. IMHO i dont see this ever being practical for an educational / business enviroment it doesnt seem to be designed to be used for this and like XP was when Vista came out so will Windows 7 to Windows 8 as being the base system everyone trusts and knows works. With support dropping for Windows XP Windows 7 will move into its shoes. There are so many things with Windows 8 can see certainly alot of the users on our network struggling with. I have installed the Windows 8 RC versions and followed it through to the RTM and all of which i have not liked at all. I must say however from a tablet angle it will probably be great, desktop no lol Still things might change and i am sure there are already plenty of fans out there that will beat me down on my comments, and infact my opinion may change when it has been out a while but as it stands...
  9. We are using Symantec Backup Exec for our main backups on the windows server side of things, i know we can get a plugin to run it over mac as well, i guess i am just trying to avoid costs! i think we may now look at this option however given the recent talk of time machine not touching open dir
  10. Is it easy to setup timemachine to work across to a nas drive on a windows server?
  11. Thanks we are just looking into the autodiscover now, will keep you updated
  12. We are not having problems with any of our Windows XP machines at all this has only started happening and is only happening on the Windows 7 machines
  13. We dont have a bypass proxy setup
  14. Hi, It is only users that have been added to Windows 7, whenever they log in and then launch Outlook it just hangs and sits there for a while then will come up with Exchange is unavailable asking you to retry or work offline, if you click retry it will then work with no problems at all. The error is coming up every other time pretty much and we cant find a way round it at all
  15. So will time machine enable us to take away a full image of the machine at its current state and reinstate that image at a later date should we need to, ideally we would like to be able to back up to one of our NAS drives which in turn will then be backed up to tape on Norton
  16. Hi All, Since moving some of our clients over to Windows 7 there seems to be an intermittent fault where when the program is loaded it will hang for a few moments and say that the microsoft exchange cannot be accessed and would you like to retry etc. Has anyone else experienced this since moving over to Windows 7 and or have a solution to the problem. Windows 7 SP1 Exchange 2007 Many thanks
  17. Cant complain either, it has been used by us for ages and we have had no problems. I mean put it this way, it serves its purpose!
  18. Hi All, Another day another question! (Sorry i am windows through and through) now i am stuck between a mountain lion and Snow leopard! We have bought in a Mac mini to aid adminitering the Xserve from our office instead of remoting in all the time. My goal was to be able to have Workgroup manager running on the Mac Mini however i have a feeling there is a conflict with versions as when i am running the workgroup manager it just hangs. Currently the Xserve is OSX Server 10.5.8 and obviously having just purchased the Mac Mini it is on Mountain Lion 10.8.2 I have downloaded the Workgroup manager 10.8 and that is what i suspect maybe the problem ( i was hoping it would work with old versions) and am trying to connect the workgroup manager 10.5.5 and sync on the server which is when it just hangs. Has anyone got any ideas or suggestions, in an ideal world we want to hold back on upgrading the Xserver for a little longer and just make do with what we have got as it is only supporting 12 Clients. Many thanks for your time and i hope all this made sense
  19. Hi Guys, Can anyone point me in the right direction of backing up a Mac server, i dont know if it comes with any in built features or if infact there is a better third party tool that can be used, to then move the backup to remote storage Many thanks
  20. Hi All, I wondered if someone would be able to help, currently we have a network drive being shared out via our Win Server 2008 and wanted this to be accessable on the users areas when logged into an OSX machine. Currently users are finding this drive quite hard to find and i wanted to know if it was possible to either add it into all the users docks or maybe on their desktops, whichever is easiest. All the Macs are linked through our Mac OSX server. Many thanks
