At the current stage i am running this to a Mac Mini server and it has 500gb storage, all it is running is mac server so it should have more than enough space

arghhhhhhh 12 hours later it has just failed!!!!

Does anyone know or is anyone aware of common issues that would prevent a netrestore image from being created, i am dealing with a very hefty image from the 'built' mac which has things like adobe suite and logic pro on it so over 50gb in size as an image. Sadly this also means it takes a long time to troubleshoot. I left it running last night and came into work the next day and it said image creation failure, as it was over night i didnt really know how long it took so i thought i would restart the image creation at 9am, by 5pm i was installing logmein onto my machine so i could come home and have a life but still be able to monitor it. Naturally i am expecting this to fail again (obviously hoping it wont) but if it does then are there any obvious things i need to check/verify. I need to be sure i get this right to save alot of time in the long run but having never created an image before. I am using the standard system image utility to create this. Does anyone also know where log files are stored so i can look into it a little more as to the failure should it fail again. Many thanks for any help on this

I noticed in disk utility you can create a 'new image' is this the same type of image that i can use for deployment?

Hi All, I have fully setup an imac with what i want to be the base image with applications pre installed etc to deploy across the other macs we have on site, is there any way to create an image of that machine other that connecting up the mac with a firewire to a server and using target disk mode as apple recommends? it isnt entirely practical for me to setup in the server room and complete this motion. Hi All, Do you have to add the mac server domain in manually and then also enrol the client to the server via servername/mydevices in order to control it? just dont remember this process before with old mac server Many thanks

Does anyone know who to just show the local network groups on the mac server in profile manager instead of it showing every group we have in AD as well it is a pain having to filter through all the ad groups to fine my mac server groups each time

If you just make sure you have setup an enrollment profile under the web profile manager you will be fine. Then just access the server with your server name/mydevices

Hi all, I am currently going through upgrading our mac server and have decided to start a fresh with new HDD's as well. what i wanted to know is if i remove the current RAID5 setup from the Server build a new server on the new HDD's and wantt o swap back to old server if this will be possible i cant see why it wont but suddenly thought about the potential of the RAID configuration which would be administered from the mac and not stored on the HDD conflicting Hope some of that if any made sence

Normally if it is a brand new phone out the manufacturor will give notice if they are going to allow an upgrade to the new OS, some companies do it some dont. If he is prepared to wait a few new phones are going to be announced this month including the HTC M7 which is definitley worth waiting for. I have never personally got on with the Sony phones. Bottom line is, if the phone comes with 4.1 there is nothing stopping it from being updated if Sony allow it, if not then a custom rom will give the update

Hi all, Has anyone experienced any issues with Office 2013 and Pass? we have contacted WCBS and had a very vague 'we havent tested fully' kind of response, so thought it best to speak to anyone that actuually has made that step themselves and can report back on any speed bumps along the way. Honestly i wouldnt have a clue, i have a Kindle Fire HD, does said teacher actually own the kindle or thinking of getting one in? might just be easier to try it Other option is if you have wifi in that area to get iMediashare and send through that way although you would need a small media box the other side to receive

I haven't personally at our site but in light of the fact you aren't supposed to deal with curriculum i would return to sender anything like that i let the people responsible make the choices, either that or just arrange for a conference call or one2one with them to come and talk with the correct people and let them do the selling

Hey Ross, Cheers for the reply, i never allocated a home directory just created it as a new user in the Workgroup manager, so am i to assume then that by default any work created with that username logged in will reside on that local machine and not be transferable to other machines

Hi all, I am planning to upgrade our mac server in the easter holidays, we are currently running Mac OSX Server 10.5.8 and i am moving onto Mountain lion and subsequently will be upgrading the 12 clients we have on it. Just wondered if anyone has done this if there is anything i need to be aware of that i am likely to come up againt or must remmeber to do. I guess i am just trying to learn from other peoples stumbles. Thanks in advance for any help/advice
