Good point. Just IE10 has caused us some minor problems with GPO but we are Win7.

Out of curiosity are you using IE10?

we had this issue slowing down our IE. It could be a recent adobe flash update, if you log in with admin rights, add user write permissions to these folders and see if that cures it. Give full permissions for everyone to the following 2 folders: C:\programdata\adobe C:\ Windows\system32\macromed\

We did ours by creating a visually impaired scheme(GPO) then linked the policy to that particular student. The GPO was created as follows; 1. The background colour was configured in “User Configuration/Policies/AdministrativeTemplates/Desktop/Custom”. Enable background colour. 2. “User Configuration/Policies/AdministrativeTemplates/Desktop/Desktop” and point to the path of the black background jpg.(In our case it was server based). Then for the mouse\cursor etc; We set the Mouse cursor etc on our workstation and notedthe registry key settings and configured policy accordingly; 1. “User Configuration/Preferences/WindowsSettings/Registry” Then separate entries for 2. Mouse Trails 3. UserPreferencesMask 4. Wallpaper and Wallpaper Source Regards Dave

Hi Marsdenprimary. We managed the profile ok. There is also a mouse sonar which zooms on the cursor location which is useful. The only problem we had was that the mouse trail only worked on alternate logins. Cheers Dave

Rob998's solution worked for us to. Another key was as follows; gpedit.msc (Local Group Policy Editor) "Computer configuration\Administrative Templates\Driver Installation\Turn off Windows Update device driver search prompt" edited and now enabled. Cheers Dave

We had some minor sound device driver issues where windows updates were set to search for device drivers in precedence over the local drivers. Have a look at gpedit.msc - then following paths; 1. Computer Configuration, Administrative Templates, System, Driver Installation and see what your settings are for "Turn off Windows Update device driver search prompt" 2. Computer Configuration, Administrative Templates, System, Internet Communication Management, Internet Communication settings and see what settings are for "Turn off Windows Update device driver searching" We disabled both these and it solved some sound issues but also sped up our systems when they searched for locally installed drivers rather than Windows Updates everytime!

Since our upgrade to Win7 and Office 2010 we have encountered a problem with Excel, particularly in ICT lessons. The security measures mean the students have to save their work differently when they work on Workbooks with new Macros. The work needs to be saved as "Excel Macro-Enabled Workbook" and to their share on the network seen globally as a "G" drive. Not a major problem as they can do that manually each time, problem is some forget and it is by default saved to local disk, then cleared on logoff. I know you can set these settings for individual users. We were thinking of a way to deploy to all users on the computers in that room the following changes to the "Save Options" in Excel; Any ideas? Is it not that they can access the additional clocks in the sub menu, add it then change timezone. We have similar issue and discovered this.
