UltraVNC here as well. Simple to setup and configure. Lots of features.

I'm sure this is a simple thing, but I need help. I have a mount command that i would like to run each time the computer is restarted. The command is simple, just a mount command pointing to a windows shared file. I tried adding a line to the fstab file but it didn't seem to take. Suggestions? Currently I have a plain next file on the desktop with the mount command in it. The file is set to executable. I would just like it to run on startup.

I used UltraVNC to get to my work computer from home or vice versa. I do have to first connect to my works VPN to remote my workstation in the office. Work to home requires only have VNC installed.

Has anyone gotten LDAP to work correctly with phpESP? I can get it setup so a group in LDAP can be set as either a super user or a designer no problem. My issue is that I cannot get LDAP to work for the respondents, which is the one main thing I really need. I'm using phpESP 2.0.2, LDAP is off my Netware 6.0SP5 server.

Where does the madness end.....

We used to be an all Lexmark and Minolta shop. After dealing with some horrible products from both we now have and only buy HP networked printers. We have had great luck with the 3500 series of printers. Just ordered a new one last week as a matter of fact.

I've had a few similar issues with a couple smartboards. SMART was kind enough to warranty them and send replacements. Check your cabling also. When our new high school was build the wiring company, who i think worked with their eyes closed, messed up some of the wiring in the wall. Lucky for us we were close enough between the computer and smartboard to run a new cable ourself.

Wow, that is really just plain silly. I can't imagine not giving back a piece of equipment owned by the school. I also can’t imagine putting a load of personal information on them. Add to that illegal software downloading. I also do not think it is the technology department’s duty to backup YOUR personal files (iTunes, MP3s, ect). If it’s school related that a different story, the department needs to help with that. Give the staff a deadline for the equipment to be turned in and then image them. Lord knows what spyware, virius, ect are learking on them. Let them know they are responsible for backing up any personal files by said date. Also let them know you are able to help them backup school files if they need assistance, but in no way will supply CDs, DVDs, whatever for personal files. I have run into this before. It normally takes about 10 to get a folder of their lesson plans and other school related material into one folder that we then can scan and ftp into their network folders, which by the way have a size limit on them so the whole radio station worth of music they stole won’t end up there.

Could always set it up as a dedicated traffic scanner.

When it comes to a web server, what distribution of Linux do you use or do you prefer? Why?

There were some posts on the UltraVNC forums about using a -multi to disable the error message. However, from what I have been reading that switch cannot be used when running VNC as a service.

I used to run eTrust (which we use at school) and now I am on AVG. I really like it and it does a heck of a job for free.

Turns out it was that AllowOveride was set to none and Elgg requires it to be set to All in the Apache config.

We had a similar issue to what you are describing. Turned out it was a loop where a teacher had plugged a patch cable back into its own switch.
