  1. Probably is, but I'm on an 13" Early 2011 MBP that doesn't support Mojave. Mostly 'cos it's working fine and (when testing in-store) I haven't found anything that fits my needs better.
  2. Yeah, Shift CMD 4 is superior, but from a "giving teachers small amounts of IT CPD" perspective, introducing them to the snipping tool is better than letting them fester in some other elaborate scheme of their own devising* * See also: Pointing out their smartphone camera can pick up infrared light, so stop calling site/IT about "my projector doesn't work" without checking the remote batteries are good.
  3. Cue furious backpedalling after riots about the future of the Snipping Tool.
  4. It would be both of you. You would be charged with unauthorised access to a computer system. The school would likely end up in special measures (failed safeguarding) for their inability to protect student data. There could be ICO fines on top of that too.
  5. "Nope". Limited filming for a media project, where everyone in-shot is involved in the project? Not a problem. Random person wants to film school inhabitants for their personal use? Nope.
  6. Currently pondering the supposedly reassuring "We're super-serious about data protection" emails from the NHS nursing team and seeing everyone in the "To:" field.
  7. have a look at phpIPAM, Gestioip and Netbox beforehand for feature comparison.
  8. List of affected product functionality:
  9. You forgot "we're going to break your online services during the middle of exam results weeks".
  10. Nope. All of our ACUs are connected directly to the fire alarm panel and will disable maglocks whether the server is available or not in the event of an alarm. We wouldn't have installed the hardware if it couldn't do that, and we test the functionality periodically.
  11. Paxton control units (the boards that actually controls the maglock/reader/etc) cache card data locally and have battery backup. They periodically sync with the computer running the Net2 software, but don't require a connection to function.
  12. Did you get the impression the ICO person was reading off a form* or did they understand what they were asking about? *like a lot of auditors I've experienced.
  13. 1) Do your Finance staff have permission to modify the contents of the C:\IQ folder? 2) What does Process Monitor (from Sysinternals / Microsoft) say it's trying to modify when it launches?
  14. We have the finance Resource 32000 share set as a trusted location, but that's about it. There should be a pdf/docx (can't remember) install guide in the Resource 32000 share.
  15. Typically we coil up and unpatch at the rack. Mainly because "Hey, let's convert X to Y" often leads to "Let's convert Y back to X" a couple of years later.
  16. Unless your automatic blocking involves passive measures such as rapidly wallpapering the area with Bacofoil, you're committing a criminal offence: https://www.ofcom.org.uk/spectrum/interference-enforcement/spectrum-offences/jammers Specifically: (bold = my emphasis) Which is why most Wireless systems have a "No really, are you *really* sure you want to turn this on?" confirmation dialogue for that setting.
  17. I wasn't fingerpointing - I just wondered if Capita had informed anyone other than directly-supported customers.
  18. Has anyone who buys SIMS from their LA been sent timely information about the problem?
  19. So did everyone in-thread get the email yesterday or still just the directly-supported schools?
  20. Agreed, they dropped so many balls it's more balls than floor at this point. We're in the happy position of never importing parent or student contact details from CTF because the data is of such poor quality. edit: @localzuk I get the annual tally-up of modules we use and pupil numbers to check and confirm, so it might be that person?
  21. ^ That should have gone to whoever is/are nominated SIMS contacts at your school. We got that on 14-06-18. I'm the one who gets the annual bill/pupil count query letter, so if you can't find it ask whoever that person is at your school. Now they didn't really highlight the scale of the problem nor the Data Protection / Safeguarding implications and sandwiching a rooster-up in between other "good" news is pretty poor.
  22. Email was "Important Updates from your SIMS Customer Success Manager" Body text was:
  23. We're in report season so I'm having to wait until the hols, but has anyone else taken it for a test drive? I've looked at the presentation and it appears you can't beging partial cleanup until the kid's been gone for 2-3 years when for certain data such as attendance we'd like to clear out sooner than that.
  24. Capita emailed (14-06-18) the nominated contacts at each school regarding this. Now that may have been the headteacher who routinely ignored it, but I did get notified and (IIRC) it was up as a KB article before then.
