Ours isn't too bad. I tidy it up each summer. We have subject folders, staff folders and then I have a photo and video store that I put all images in. This gets put onto a USB HDD each year. If people want stuff back, I can move it back. My other school has a tip of a staff shared. I might take some tips from here and do an archive folder that is read only!

True dat. The only bug that was holding me back was that you had to have a password to log on. So I've put passwords on all accounts now (Yes, yes, I know ) I've begun the upgrade and I've done about 30 machines so far.

Yeah mine is the same... don't have that 4 hour service though! I get one shipped out next day. I check physically once or twice a week. I always go in the room to make sure people haven't left a load of paper on the server - it's in with the photocopiers. I also use the open manage software. Other ways to check are event logs. You will get a lot of NTFS errors. Normally points to a potential failure.

Sometimes yes, to check it had worked. Sometimes no, because I knew it would break it.

I tried, boy did I try and get on with the Education version, but EVERY. DAMN. TIME. I made an image it would not sysprep because of the stupid apps I had disabled. So I gave up. Then found about LTSB and never looked back.

Right just re-imaged a machine and initially it had US settings. When I changed its name, the date was the correct way around, the time was 12hr and the keyboard / Language was still set to US. Why is it doing this?! Pesky americans thinking their language is primary... pfff

Right... I've got the unit up and running, but I had a luxury many may not have - another terastation of the same model. I was given 3 hard drives with it, so I stuck them in and put one of the hard drives from my broken unit. This one booted and I managed to get onto the web interface. Many hard drive issues / errors / failures later, I managed to format 4 drives in it. I shut it down and then moved these drives over to my broken unit - ET VOILA! No longer broken. Which proves (not that there was any doubt) that the web interface/software is stored on the hard drives themselves, and if you loose more than 2 hard drives.... creek and paddle come to mind. This terastation now has all the settings the other one had. Not ideal. I set it to factory restore and format last night, but when I returned to it this morning it hadn't finished, some 8 hours later. Leaving it some more and seeing what happens.

Isn't it interesting the difference group policies make and all of our different setups and configurations? Actually genuinely think it's interesting... that sad?

I'm having trouble trying to get people to use Lynx. One main issue with it is that you can't create a simple table. They've added the feature in the new version, but when I've downloaded the beta, you can't actually add text into it. Bizzare.

Bought my set for £20 off ebay. Second hand is definitely the way to go. The 3 month membership is going to be £100, so should save some pennies there if I am playing a couple of times a week+. That's what's kinda making me think I shouldn't throw myself in, because if I like it, I can't really afford to do it!! Hahahah. I need to buy some proper clothes because the club I'm joining have a strict dress code... whereas the public course where I have my lessons do not have such a code. I'll be going around today with joggers and a vest... (work clothes)... sounds worse than it is.... hmm.

That meeting was.... interesting. Got swarmed by the Lady Captain, Vice Captain and another lady member... they are all retired and were very insistent that the social aspect of the club was excellent... errrrrr.... that's not why I'm joining.... >.< Playing with one of the ladies this week and next. She's going to mentor me or something. Wah. Think I'll have to politely decline any other meetings!

Hahahah! I prefer to use my local guy for projector stuff, Paul from Crystal Business Equipment. Small family run firm in Blackburn. I got IDN in because they did a good price on a whole bunch of screens. Live and learn!
