How does Lightspeed do it? We use that product and haven't ever seen the functionality?

Can you elaborate?

We use a whiteboard in the office which has a calendar printed on it already so we can just write in the boxes in whiteboard pen.

I definitely would not be placing an order for the 10k without looking at your whole network. It won't improve the end user experience if your cabling and switching infrastructure is not up to a good standard, or your hardware is ageing. You should look at it all as a bigger picture and involve a third party if you have the money to spend on some sort of audit. By all means try and find out what you have, post here, there's loads of people ready to help advise or explain where what you have could be improved. Your LA support provider should be able to tell you what switching gear you have in place, what wireless access points you have and the spec of your hardware. Perhaps use their 3 hours to pull this information together as it'll really benefit you going forward in developing what you have.

CC4 is a 'front end' to Active Directory as such, so will perhaps be the simplest way - assuming it all works - you'll have of managing the network as it's on the whole a graphically driven interface. There's no reason why with a bit of training you (or whoever else) couldn't learn the basics of creating users, changing passwords, assigning software and such like. By the very nature it's meant to be simple on that side of things. When it doesn't work, well, that's another matter. In what ways is it hard to manage/maintain at the moment as this will need to be factored in to whatever decision you make. Of course you could have a vanilla network with some frontend tools to manage processes. There's plenty of other companies out there you could have to support you, who have knowledge of networks aside from CC4, so do the LA need to be your provider? Too slow etc will perhaps be down to your hardware or networking infrastructure and not necessarily CC4. Do you know what you currently have in place on that side of things? As for it not working, again, is that down to the current support you have in place? What parts don't work? Unreliable in what way? 3 hours isn't a huge amount of time. Are you tracking the jobs the technician is working on? Are jobs being left outstanding for too long? Is there anything that can be done to improve on that side of things. I think you really need to do a full review of everything before assuming it's just the CC4 side of things that are the issue.

Is anyone else finding that opening email attachments in Office online isn't working all of the time? For example, clicking a Word document attached to an email starts the process to open it online but then it displays an error and suggests downloading it and opening it in Word on the desktop. @EduTech

I don't think there's much you can do now if they're not registered to your Apple ID. The school need to learn from this mistake - not have adequate procedures in place to manage loaned equipment - and tighten up to hopefully prevent it happening again. Apple are very set in their ways and won't really go against their set procedures. You could try emailing Tim Cook - it'll go to his Exec Office - who might be willing to spend more time trying to help if you send over scanned copies of receipts and crime references.

Email Policy / Ideas For Reducing Email
Edu-IT replied to Colindean2000's topic in How do you do....it?
I do have to wonder why. If email is the right tool for the job, and it's Friday, why shouldn't it be used? -
It seems that Impero is going from bad to worse with each update, that is supposed to fix all of the past issues?
-
Why fluff things up? Sometimes 'No' is all that is needed. Depends on the circumstances I suppose.

Oh what a clang! It was advertised in their recent newsletter so it must be close (within 12 months) of being ready to go public. -

Last time I asked, I was told it was being worked on with various 'groups'. -
Don't forget the 5am Next sale on Boxing Day.

How great would it be for all of the gifts to be donated to charity.
-
Can you raise a support call as the Impero team seemed to conclude it was unique to us. If you send me the ref I can ask them to consider the two.

What use is there for this in a school, I thought it's more a residential product?
-
Bingo. They only get a browse button now. Perhaps it just took some time to apply across the servers.

Nobody?

You'd be surprised (or maybe not) how many faxes we get trying to sell us things.

I think they would need to login to the portal to view it.

What commands are people using to disable groups? I've tried appending -GroupCreationEnabled $false to the end of the Set-OwaMailboxPolicy command, but it says it's set to disabled, but groups is still showing in OWA?
