Thanks @Marci

Thanks - I'm using quick reports rather than Odata (we need lesson grades) - have split the file so smaller but still issues. Even small reports are now slow, which they weren't before?

Hi - my feeds have worked no problem previously, now getting lots of time outs - there is a lot of data, but has been previously. What could cause this timeout? We are having webfilter issues within school, could this be affecting anything? Or could Bromcom have changed the database in some way, that has resulted in slowness? Thanks!

[bromcom] Bromcom not recognising my PowerBi Login Details?
Redwinegirl posted a topic in MIS Systems
Hi - my PowerBi reports no longer show in Modules> Analysis>PowerBI Viewer. "Need to authenticate with PowerBI, please check config". In config my Username and password are correct (My MS details) but it's telling me that it is incorrect and unable to save settings. We haven't implemented 2FA, nothing else has changed over the weekend, but it thinks my MS details are wrong but I can log into PowerBI with them no problem. Cleared Cache, reset all passwords - any other ideas would be appreciated For info This is how it normally works > I use desktop PowerBI to create reports and use app.powerbi.com to schedule them. I publish to ‘my workspace’ and then the reports show for all staff under Modules > Analysis > PowerBi Viewer. I have to configure Bromcom in Config > Analysis > PowerBI config with my PowerBI credentials (i.e. MS account details) Every time I change my system password I have to update in the Bromcom Config – not normally an issue and hadn’t changed my password since about 2 weeks ago and everything was fine until this morning.-

Thanks @Cazab unfortunately someone deleted the working feed and we can't put it back as no longer in the toolbox. Wondered if there was a way we could fix it?

Hi - we are creating a sharepoint site for the school and want to link it to our twitter account. When we first started using sharepoint, there was the option to add Twitter in a new webpart but that has now gone? Anyone managed this? Thanks

Hi - we were the same after been bitten previously by moving to Progresso (in the very early days of Progresso!) and having to roll back. All staff were nervous (especially me as I'm responsible for many of the aspects of the software!). We learned a lot from the failed Progresso migration and needed to make sure any new package was fully fit for purpose. Very glad we made the move and didn't take long to get all staff happily using it - even those initially opposed to the change.

We moved over 5 years ago to Bromcom, I've used SIMS.Net and CMIS previously so Bromcom was a complete change from the "Standard" school MIS - much more intuitive and user friendly. Migration went well back then, but can imagine its much easier now that they have migrated so many other schools. If you are planning on migrating, its important to get a team together with all the key staff and take training opportunities, so that you launch with confidence. The new shared community forum is so beneficial, as newly converted schools can ask questions of the more seasoned users.

Quick reports are proving more useful as you can show different time periods in the same report. Dont think I use the OData feed, just live feed from reports.

https://docs.bromcom.com/knowledge-base/how-to-create-a-dynamic-filter-in-power-bi/ is this any use? (I'm stuck on incremental refresh at the minute...:-( )

Thank you - have raised with SLT to see if they put some weight behind my request! in fact email just come in and I can have access ! Yay!!!! Thanks all

Thanks - I thought we could - we aren't able to download anything with IT approving and installing, so will keep pushing!

Thanks - my guy is still sayings it's not free - as we aren't on the A5 plan which is expensive. Looking at the websites it looks like we can get it free so confused! He wants to wait until May when we renew our licence, but I could do with it now :-(

Hi - noticing the reference to BI - I need to look at this for Bromcom analysis but my IT guy says it costs - about £120 a year? Is this the case as someone mentioned that schools should get this free? Keen to start playing with data more (sad I know :-) ) Thanks

hi- can anyone recommend tamperproof keyboards that don't cost the earth? Spending too much on replacing the things!
-
That's a possible - basically the head and SLT and a couple of others need a full view but some staff only need some parts. Thanks

Hi - we use outlook as a school currently to track the main school activities but also need to add trips, deadlines, lettings so we have a full view of what's happening. Adding it all in outlook makes it look too busy so we need a good shared calendar, easily printable that can be filtered to show all trips or assessment dates for example. Anyone recommend a package? (I don't post to edugeek as a rule so apologies if this is in the wrong area!) Thanks

Removing Apps from Windows 10
Redwinegirl commented on Redwinegirl's blog entry in Redwinegirl's Blog
all sorted now :-) -
Hi We have new stand alone laptops that we just need to have notepad on for exam purposes - on the APP listing it shows things like X-Box, My Phone which we want hidden. Have asked a friend who suggests: Open the Windows 10 Search Bar, and type in PowerShell. Right-click the PowerShell app and click “Run as administrator”. Type the following command and press the Enter key: Get-AppxPackage Microsoft.XboxApp | Remove-AppxPackage Wait until the process is finished. It should only take a few seconds to run. Type exit and press the Enter key to exit PowerShell but my IT response is: That combined with AppXProvisiedPackage are the way you remove apps but they do not work on newer universal built in apps like Xbox, contacts, mail etc Is it possible at all? Really just need Notepad and NOTHING ELSE? Thanks

3000 emails (regardless of size of school) -we send over 50,000 a month..... Our email system apparently won't cope with this (365). Anyone got any solutions I can point our IT manager in as he doesn't have any ideas? and this could be costly!!! Nothing like short notice!!!!

I've cleared out a lot of my DMS and got it to 35% but every time we do a set of student reports, It ups the storage massively (webmerge). It is manageable, but you need to clear down very regularly. 10Gb seems so low and surely should be related to the size of school and surely a bit more notice might of helped as our reports didn't run after the upgrade as we were over the 10Gb (although don't get me started on the emails...will look at that threat separately!) Grrr
