LDAP won't give the Google appliance access to the Netware filesystem. As far as I know you can only index against a web server or a CIFS share, either of which you could set up on Netware. Personally I wouldn't want to do either of those things. Even if you managed to index the volume the search results would be formatted as http urls or as UNC paths to a CIFS share whereas you would want your users to access via the Netware client - wouldn't you?

I would check duplex settings on the link between the core and edge switches. Also make sure the trunked connection is actually configured as a trunk. Have you tried it with a single copper link instead of the trunked pair?

If you're interested in making panoramic landscape pictures you might like to investigate Image stitching - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia As jinnantonnix says, your existing lens is already fairly wide. Anything wider is getting into the 'ultra-wide' category and would be quite expensive for something half-decent. Anything costing less than a few hundred would probably be a waste of money.

hmm Yep. Stereotypes are hilarious...

As Kipling says, you only need to run loop-protect on ports connected to network endpoints. Personallly I enable it on all ports - it wont do any harm. It is safe to enable on a live network.
-
Spanning Tree will not prevent all kinds of loops and that isn't its purpose in the first place; what you want is Loop Protect. You can enable it on the Procurves by connecting via the cli and executing the following commands: loop-protect all loop-protect trap loop-detected loop-protect disable-timer 60 write mem (if you want to save this config permanently) this will disable any looped ports for 60 seconds and generate an snmp trap.

Network infrastructure upgrade - Possible new fiber backbone
keithu replied to bozallen's topic in Wireless Networks
I would want to eliminate the cat5 runs C-E, C-B and C-A and have a second 'core' at B by making C-B a new fibre. Everything to the right of the map would connect to B: that means a new fibre E-B and new copper A-B. If the 2250 only has two gigabit ports you will be short of a port there, but you could resolve that by swapping your switches around or buying a replacement. I don't see any point in replacing the other links with fibre if they're working okay. Also the procurve 1800 at C only supports two fibre modules so you would need to replace it if you terminate any more fibres there. -
It's easy to do this in perl. If you have the emails in individual files just pipe them through this program and get the output in csv format. Let me know if you need any help. while (<>) { tr/,/ /; $oteam = $1 if /^other_team: (.*)$/; $pom = $1 if /^player_of_the_match: (.*)$/; $sports = $1 if /^sportsmanship: (.*)$/; } print "$oteam,$pom,$sports\n";

It's just been renamed as "Exercise 18 Memorizing Logic"
-
I'm not entirely sure what you're trying to say here, but presumably you disagree with me. He teaches logical operations like AND and OR, not by explaining the concept behind them, but by suggesting that we should copy their truth-tables onto postcards to carry around and spend a week memorizing them. You think that's a good idea?!
-
Chapter 16 / Exercise 27 deserves a Anyone who thinks that's a good way to learn logic shouldn't be teaching programming IMHO

Cany you describe your network in more detail? How do these switches connect to the rest of the LAN? Are your workstations in the same subnet as your servers - if not, where is routing done? If there connectivity problems I'm surprised you're getting DHCP addresses reliably. What happens when you try to ping one workstation from another on the same switch?
-
Do your workstations use DHCP? What IP addresses are they getting? What message to you get when you try to ping your servers? Presumably you've checked the web management interface of the switches for errors (?)
-
Once you've captured some traffic in Wireshark select Statistics -> Conversations from the menu. Click on the column headers in the chart that comes up to sort the most active to the top. You can right-click on interesting looking conversations to drill down further.

You can use a higher capacity drive but of course you won't be able to use the extra capacity.

I know that the '--delete' option is ignored if there are any errors in the transfer, but that doesn't explain why the 'update' option isn't working. Could you enable logging to see what's going on?

Squid Dropping for a few seconds
keithu replied to 10101010's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
If it's not responding to Ping the problem isn't with squid it's with the network interface. If your server is connected to a managed switch you should be able to check link status on there. I would also make sure duplex settings are correct. -
Have you made sure that the running squid process has permission to read the trusted_ip.txt file?
-
Yes, it's possible but you still have to tell squid to re-read its config file. Either run 'squid -k reconfigure' or send a HUP signal to the running process. What I do is have a background process running which watches the text file and sends squid a HUP (that's the Unix 'Hang Up' signal) whenever the file's timestamp changes.

If you aren't getting any joy from your local council you could get advice from The Noise Abatement Society

Hi Andy. Looks like we're practically neighbours - I'm about a mile down the road from you. I think I can guess where you're jumping. Last time I was there was to support a young woman doing a charity jump - sadly she's now a breast cancer sufferer herself so I'm more than happy to give you a donation. Thanks for doing this; It's a great cause. Keith

script to log into a webpage and wget and parse content
keithu replied to RabbieBurns's topic in Scripts
There's a perl module called 'mechanize' that can do this. There are also versions for other languages including python and ruby. -
Procurve: Is it possible to schedule a (recurring) reboot?
keithu replied to meastaugh1's topic in Wireless Networks
Oh yes, you're right. I think those commands can be scheduled in Procurve Manager Plus. -

Don't forget you have lifetime warranty with advance replacement on this switch. You could have a new one by next week.
