I have had this with many SQL servers and reducing the CORES has always fixed this - never known why odd numbers are seem to be better - just confirmed and our SIMS DB is 23GB and i run on 7 VCPUs. We run on 55GB of RAM. We use Hyper-V and read a couple of years ago about CPU queuing on VM machines and the overhead of too many cores so I never go overkill with CPU as realistically machines don't need the processing power!
-
did you lower the CPU threads? - try an odd number.
-
23GB DB - make sure log file is not too big - also lower CPU cores - we run 7 as we found this to be optimal. Give SIMS 100 CPUs and it would make no difference

looking at moving from surface to Lenovo - cheaper and more sustainable i think

We found the same with support so have moved to cloud filtering and Ubiquiti UXG-Pro for a one-off £400.

Have you followed this to get working with shared device? -
We have been using it for over a year now and runs perfectly. We did have issues at first but as soon as we turned off filtering in Smoothwall and moved to securly and adjusted firewall rules its runs without any issues for us.

Where are you hosting the witness? We are thinking in Azure?

Looks like we are going to have the same - one of the reasons we switched to html5 is to get around the scaling issues. We use 125% DPI on our laptops and initially SIMS is fine but loading intouch messes with the resolution and displays SIMS at 100% DPI.
-
We are seeing this on site - we access over html5 which i believe automatically adjusts to connection state.
-
We are running on 2019 RDS - we are running over html5 so will try the full client to see if that makes a difference. We went to html5 as intouch caused scaling issues with the full rdp client - it does take a while to load but sometimes you are unable to type. I can load notepad from the same session and all works fine. My only alternative is the full SIMS client on all of our 120 laptops but that causes other issues with upgrades etc.
-
We are having the same issue with Intouch on RDS - anyone with the same issue?
-
Has anybody got SIMS being deployed via SOLUS on an Intune connected device? I have downloaded the SOLUS agent installer and put the appropriate firewall ports on the device. The device can also ping and access the SIMS server

We do an image based backup of our windows 2008 file shares and enable previous version at 7am every day which gives 75 snapshots - if you do this you should never need to do a file based backup. However if you backup the image file to tape you have it if needed.
-
doesn't look good! But it'll be a good challenge for the person that goes for it. Think the previous network manager went to industry.
-
A network manager should be on 30k plus but I believe it all depends on the size of the team and the ICT value you can add to the school.
