Anyone else not having the right click > log on not working? We're unable to log on to several machines at a time since upgrading to 5.4.38.

@Bob_the_Goon : I can't remember exactly what we did, sorry - but we're not getting the issue anymore. From what we've gathered throughout this term; it could one of the several things we've noticed: We updated the SMARTInk drivers on the whiteboard. We've disabled Presenter View from the other screen on the teacher's desk. We've allowed staff Write-Access to the computer's hard drive by putting them in an AD group that (via group policy) puts them in the administrators group in computer management. (This solved a few issues with other software that needed to write temp files to the software's install directory/windows temp folder). They can't see the C drive in My Computer, however. We found that the SmartInk layer add-in wasn't loading up for some staff so had to manually switch this on in Powerpoint. It wasn't until later on we had this issue though - and it was linked to roaming profiles. That's all I can think of at the moment. I'm sorry I couldn't be more direct help - but that's all I can remember of what we've done SmartInk/Powerpoint wise since August.

Echoing the sentiments expressed by others: has had a rough patch in the past year; and the software does still have some niggles that are obvious. But I really can't think of any other classroom management software/network management that I'd use over Impero.

Sorry to bump up a two-year old thread; but we've gotten something similar show up with Powerpoint 2016. We're using Notebook 11.4 with Office 2016. The SmartInk layer loads up and defaults to the SMART settings and you can write with the pens in any other software that loads up the layer. So Word, Excel, IE, Chrome, Notebook itself all work. Our whiteboards even have the different colour pen trays and it recognises the colours. The issue we're getting is when you use Powerpoint in presentation mode. When you try and write on the presentation, the pen doesn't show up at all. Exiting from presentation mode, all the drawn ink suddenly appears in the Powerpoint file as if it was MicrosoftInk. But the setting is set to load in SmartInk. The screens are extended, and the power point file is on the main screen on the teacher's desk. Moving the powerpoint application window to the whiteboard and starting the slideshow still provides the same results. Anyone had a similar issue and (fingers crossed) resolved it?

Yeah - we found this out as well. If you know the IP address/computer name of the invigilator PC then it works with other VLANs.

Last year I signed up for the Manchester 10k (first ever race) in May on New Year's Day and it helped motivate me to go to the gym before running outside on a regular basis. This year I've already signed up to the Birmingham 10K in May and the Half Marathon in October. I find it good motivation - particularly when I have less fitter-than-me friends (and I'm nowhere near the pinnacle of fitness) taking part as well and the self--I mean healthy competitive desire to beat them.

Another vote for Impero. Much, much, much better product and easier to use. Netsupport became extremely buggy and clunky to manage whilst Impero is very clean (the fact there's only one client install helps a lot). Don't regret the move for a second, even if there's a few features in Netsupport I miss (like the column layout and being able to see what people's active windows are and what programmes are running and being able to sort by it. But Impero just does a lot more. And support is top notch.

I bought a PS4 a couple of weeks ago, and gosh darn it looks lovely and FIFA '15 is lovely, but in terms of media playback it's pretty limited. I've read that Sony will be releasing firmware updates to allow MP3s etc, but I really would love a bit of file format compatibility.... There's an option to shut the controller off after a certain amount of time - minimum is 10 minutes though. Helps when watching Netflix....

I love FFVIII - I love the story and the characters. I have to replay every few years else I'll explode.

Sometimes I need to restart the services on my machine as the console gets a bit laggy at times - but I've put that down as a Windows 8 issue (other technician and my manager are on Win 7 and they don't have to do that at all).

We moved to it from NetSupport nearly a year and a half ago and we haven't looked back. A few usability issues aside, it's pretty darn good. The room/user organisational groups you can set up work pretty well, and the built in policy manager helps a lot when blocking some sites (particularly game sites that have many sub-domains - you can block the main domain in the URL and it'll nuke them all. Godsend). The logging of activities is quite detailed (not fully thorough, but enough to help figure out what people have been doing when required to investigate computer mis-use). What I love about it though, are that it helps reduce a lot of repetitive tasks. You can send command line commands as an admin when staff/students are logged in, deploy msis very efficiently and the best part I've started using - the MIMIC Scripts. These allow you to send commands to a whole lot of PCs at once. It helped a lot when installing software to a whole venue that requires a lot of hitting the "next" button. The support is amazing. I need to point that out. I've not had a bad experience. They will help out as much as possible and pretty much hound you until you admit that you're satisfied with a support call, which makes a change with some companies who seem to forget you exist! Cons? There's always a few odd niggles, like the ability to use the keyboard to select text whilst holding the shift key, and having to toggle the "Video Overlay" setting first before the remote controlled screen display gets a responsive refresh rate (and the end user's screen will flicker when controlling - which means convert monitoring is non existent).

Is this after students have worked on a file? What we found is if that file is renamed it allows you to open a new window again. But then once they work on a new file it's the same error. Open a new file and the wind

I can't see the attachment - it's giving me an error. We haven't installed the test player software yet as I haven't had an opportunity to get to the rooms we're using (that's my half term week sorted). But It's looking like running the install manually (or at least trying to use mimic scripts from Impero) after I got the helpful "we only support what we tell you in the userguide" response from support. Yup.

Hi - Matt here! Been working for an Academy in the Midlands as an IT Techie for nearly five and a half years (or as I describe my non-IT literate mates: "telling school kids to turn PCs off and on again"). Been lurking for a while, thought I'd get stuck in!

Funnily enough, found this thread when Googling the software. Have a learnt a couple of things. So did people have to end up installing the test player manually and inputting the name of the PC that the invigilator is at? Is there a way of automating this process via the msi and push it out via Impero or group policy? We have students' temporary folders on the C drive delete after logging on - so that tdpClientData would get deleted. For other exams like Pearson's ALANTests and exam access software from WJEC - we log on to machines with the same AD user account and give that one account local admin access to write to the C drive per machine. From the sounds of it that sounds like what will happen.
