You don't need A3 if the users have Office and that is just for the simultaneous edits. A2 free is fine.

I find centralised providers for 'the greater good' are all politics and no substance, at least around here. They will go on and on about helpfully managing this and that for you while locking you out of all sorts of stuff and charging you four to five times over the odds for their lacklustre 'service'. Our new mindless overlords are all for a new NEN (national education network) which they have pretty much admitted already in the planning stage will shutdown all the nice up-to-date and practilly free stuff we run now like internal DirectAccess / VPN / RemoteApp servers for their 'better' pay for filth. These are the same idiots who can't even scrape together enough tech to pay their own staff and bring down entire regions with broadcast storms becacuse no-one there knows about broadcast domains. Generally in what I have had to deal with centralised education networks are several steps down from a 1980s BBS in both speed and reliability and are more childish and unreliable than the traditional 14 year old running it from their bedrooms. It will of course take another decade of pain before the powers that be discover that they were wrong / their bribes from Telescum run out but by then another whole generation of school kids will have been victimised by this silly game of top trumps with the loudest and possibly bribiest voices winning out in the we know best competition. In the above 'plan' sure a single 1GB/s pipe will be more than enough for every school using Google Services. Its already at 60% plus with less than 10% of the schools on it and their are still no plans for upgrade. At least with a corporate provider you get a fair shake at a decent amount of resources unlike the usual EDU overpromise and under deliver situation.

Worse, at least Gmail doesn't shout at you. I don't find the white too bad but I guess it depends on your screen and how its setup.

Maybe the price of the RT stuff will come down once there is a viable x86 compeditor on the market. Doubtful but worth a shot, every company seems to be gouging at the moment.

That looks like where I was getting to but much more advanced and actually tested. Sad that it again comes down to pirates to make these things tenable for legitimate users. Its insane. The only ones who get punished are the honest users and the usability of the software in question. Right, no appx files but the actual programs do appear to be extracted in there, may be possible to repack them with App packager (MakeAppx.exe) (Windows) but it seems like a hell of a mess. Perhaps https snooping while downloading the appx from the windows store would be less hassle, not that, that is overly quick and easy either. edit: image of register app, includes the cert and manifest by the looks, might be possible

The app files are stored in c:\Program Files\WindowsApps which is locked down to trusted installer by default but I'm just cracking it open now to see if there is any appx goodness in there.

I think its the right click on the collum headers when in list view, click more and select filename. You now have a collum of the actual names.

Thanks, I'll give that a go if I get time, I have been stuffing about with this for a couple of days now though and may just stick with the only one that runs without recompiling the whole thing from the ground up.

@cpjitservices - Won't even detect interfaces properly with the legacy adapters under Hyper-V, useless to me as we use Hyper-V and I'm not making a whole new VM server just for this. Found a custom zeroshell one that actually boots and even uses the synthetic adapters Rick's Blog: Exciting adventures with ZeroShell and Hyper-V The only one that actually seems to have made any effort to be remotely compatible with Hyper-V.

But Macs just work, BS. Got a hold of a Mac which was having 'issues'. Turns out that the concept of a file structure is too difficult for the modern Mac user to understand so when you open finder you get 'all your files'. It also has this stupid habit of copy only with no move between locations despite what you do. Cue Mac user copying everything to an external drive but missing and ending up with 10k files on the desktop. Should be fine right, nope, Macs helpfully try to open and preview everything on the desktop giving you about a half second window to do stuff before the whole shebang locks up. Windows previews whats on the screen and leaves the rest till you need it. Otherwise g = © and all sorts of mental substitutions. Create a new user and assign Admin permissions then use that to 'fix' the desktop and the keyboard goes freaking mental. Known fault where the mac forgets that its laptop keyboard is a laptop keyboard and you need to reboot it repeatedly with an external mac keyboard till it picks it up and resets it temporarily to the right kind. OMG, for something that is 'easy' to use I should not have had to drop it to Linux/BSD shell mode to get the keyboard working and idiocy like flaking thanks to a few files is insane. I have seen 1ghz Celeron XP machines cope fine with the same kinds of mishaps. I thought they had fixed it several versions ago when someones 'top of the line' iMac 27" 16GB etc. choked on a memory card with a few hundred photos on it when a 6 year old xp laptop could cope fine. It boggles the mind. Are they always this shocking or do I just get to see the really funky ones. Bearing in mind these were not old, iSeries CPUs with the latest at the time OSX.

Don't bother trying to use it with Halo 4 under Android or WP7, the useless dropkicks only support it under W8 and iOS, way to go Microsoft, care to burn anymore bridges and market share while you're at it. Maybe a free terminal illness with every purchase.

Users dealing with the cripplingly slow internet that seems to exist everywhere that is not the Google or MS offices. A local server allows for fast local usage while the cloud stuff allows for the fastest - possible - external speeds too.
