Created a new policy for our students and added it before the Decrypt policy, and that seems to have done the trick. Thank you for your help

We have YouTube in a Decrypt and inspect policy within our HTTPS inspection (Guardian - HTTPS Inspection - Manage Policies). I believe this was setup to allow certain videos through. Do we need to remove this? Or just add another policy with it set to Do not inspect? If so, should it sit above or below the Decrypt and inspect policy? Cheers, C

**UPDATE** The Smoothwall Triage Team have reviewed this Ticket and concluded this needs to be escalated to our 2nd Line Team for further analysis. Interesting... They must be able to replicate the issue, if it's going upstairs.

I was remoted onto one of our test computers using Impero, logged in as a student. Then used OBS on my PC to record the monitor that was showing the screen of the test computer.

This is the first time I've had a Smoothwall. I'm still unraveling how things work here. Only took over completely last summer. Previous NM was a network/security guru. So lots of unique settings to work out what they are and why they are there.

Good morning all, Hope you can help us out. We've come across a weird Smoothwall bypass students are using to get onto YouTube. It doesn't give full functionality, but they can get to most, if not all, videos. Certainly all the random videos we've tested with. Our Smoothwall update level is Leeds-59 The browser being used is Chrome. What the students are doing is googling a video. Clicking on the search result. This brings up the Smoothwall content blocked page. All good so far... But, students are then clicking the browser refresh button lots of times very quickly. Within about 2-3 clicks, the page opens and the video plays. It's like the fast clicking overwhelms the Smoothwall block Has anyone else come across this? If so, why does it happen and how can we stop it :-) Thanks for reading C

In my experience, changes to GPOs can take a bit of time to work.

You can exclude the users from the password GPO. If the password rules are in the Default GPO, you can create a new GPO just for the password rules and exclude the users there. Then just remove the password rule bits from the Default GPO

We've done similar. We had a mixture of HikVision and Bosch, which we found to be a bit 'clunky'. So we utilised our two Synology RackStations (RS3614RPxs) that were being used to hold backups and put them into a cluster. Each have their Surveillance Station module enabled. We then used some Axis Encoders which turned all our cameras into IP cameras. This gave us the time to add more IP CCTV while slowly swapping out the old BNC cameras to newer IP ones.

We have about 15TB total storage (6.25TB RAID10 & 8.75TB RAID6). Current shared areas cover about 3TB and current home drive areas cover about 2TB. To cut down on used space, we use Deduplication. We have 1200 students (limited quotas to 1GB standard, 5GB for art students and 20GB for music tech students) and 165 staff (unlimited quotas). Every student and member of staff also have 1TB on their OneDrive account.

I've found out how to censor the reasons :-) Right-Click the Group Select the Block-List Click on 'Advanced Policy' at the top Click on your Group Block List on the left side Double-click each item on the left - Tick 'Censor Reason ...' - Click Edit Close the Advanced Policy window Click 'OK'

How do you censor the reason? That'll do fine :-) The browser pop-up is when we use the 'Window / Tabs' button and close the window that the student is playing games on.

Hi All, We have several Impero Groups within our Console. One of which is Students. To save us from having to block every version of Friv using our Smoothwall, we thought we'd use the Block List for the Student Group and just use *friv* This worked perfectly until they cottoned on to what was being blocked and started to slightly mis-spell Friv. They could tell what was being blocked due to the pop-up window that tells the user why something was blocked. Is there any way to turn that pop-up off? I've had a good look for this but can't seem to put my finger on a solution. We'd also like to turn off the pop-up when we close their browser too. If that's possible. Many thanks, C

We have a Raspberry Pi connected to each TV. This then connects via WiFi to the internet. We then use https://www.risevision.com/ to design what is displayed. The Pi is then set to connect and load up the webpage on startup.
