Have you tried typing in the fully qualified domain name when you add the printer? Instead of \\server\printer Try \\server.domail.com\printer Hope this helps

How are you deploying your printers? Group Policy Preferences or Login Script?

Hi, I had this with my old Server 2008 Printserver. You have to go into the driver section and change the driver isolation mode to 'none'. Hope this helps :-)

Hi all, I really hope that someone can help. I work in a number of primary schools and one of them have several digital display screens around the school. What I am looking for is a piece of free software that displays 'dynamically' all photos placed within a designated folder. So if new photos are added to the folder while the slideshow is running, the slideshow 'auto updates' itself to show the new photos. Likewise, if photos are deleted from the folder, these are not shown anymore. The folder will be shared so that designated staff can add/delete photos. Hope this all makes sense. Cheers, Chris

The laptops belong to the students (they are bought through a kind of hp scheme from the school), but they are still theoretically 'owned' by the school until the parents have finished paying for them. Thanks to the original plan from the SLT, there is such a grey area concerning what the students and us can and can't do with the laptops. If I had my way, I would scrap the scheme completely and go back to desktops and department laptops!!

Hi all, We run a laptop scheme for our students and are currently in our fourth year. The laptops run XP (2 years worth), Vista (1 year) and Win 7 (1 year). Each student with a laptop has a domain account (to use while in school) and a local account on the laptop (to use while at home). We locally manage our domain and AD. Our servers are running Server 2008. [Problem] Over the years we have repeatedly told the students to logon to the school domain while in school and NOT their local accounts. They say that the reason that they are on their local account is that they can't get to the homework they have done. But we have put a link to their local documents in the start menu when they are logged onto the domain. [solution] I'm looking for a way to disable all local accounts (apart from the administrator account) when they turn on their laptops in school. Thus forcing them to logon to the domain. Then, when they turn off their laptops at the end of the day, another script will enable the accounts. We do use CCleaner but have very limited HDD space on the EeePC's, so don't want to install anything onto them. We'll give the VB Script a go.

We are running Asus EeePc's with limited storage. To free space is there a batch file or scipt that can be run to remove all hotfix files ($NtUninstall....) hidden in the Windows folder. We are currently having to manually remove these files when updates are applied.

This little .exe(Password Reset tool for staff) works a treat and is so nearly what I am hoping to achieve. It changes the password fine but I would like to force a password change at next logon.
