  1. Unfortunately not we had to recreate the majority at every sublevel as well. We haven't seen the results of removing KB5083769 yet as we worked around it but it would be just like M$ to introduce 10 fixes and 11 breakages..
  2. Apologies, i did not give you our full fix we had to create a new folder in the same location as the previous one and then recreate the shortcuts inside that and it worked(copying the previous broken shortcuts did not), wierd and unexplainable i know but I promise you it worked for us we had a backup of the shortcuts folder and restoring that elsewhere and then drag and dropping into new folder worked on some and saved us a little time but we still had to redo the majority of them.
  3. we had this problem on redirected start menus just this week, and had to remake all our shortcuts, wierdly it then worked fine, as it has been for years on windows 11.
  4. what am i missing, if they are domain joined won't a gpo sort out which sid they connect to apologies if i am missing the obvious.
  5. In your wireless network settings for the ssid you need to isolate, choose 'Apply guest policies (captive portal, guest authentication, access)'
  6. No but it certainly looked like one i agree, we binned it off in the end.
  7. Has anyone ever come across a Adam Coleman at edurator, they sent our finance director an email offering a free spreadsheet that compares us against similar schools around the country but me being me thought it looked odd particularly given that its free and that edrator.com which was the reply email domain does not exist? thanks in advance.
  8. we have used quest vranger its really good as well, we hit the the 5tb size limit for VEEAM community but i agree with what others have said VEEAM is brilliant too.
  9. Sorry to bring this old thread back to life but for those of you using Veeam and restore option is there a time limit to how long this works for? What i mean is, i have done a restore as suggested above connected it to a separate network and disconnected the network card on boot as a belts and braces approach and sims loads and works fine and dandy but i worry that windows will stop working overtime, become unlicensed or some other such peculiarity from Microsoft, so just checking with anyone that they have done this over the years and been able to switch it back on without issues.
  10. you need to create a new package from within the software library with a command line shutdown-exe -t0, see here for instructions
  11. I'll be monitoring this as we are moving away from the sims parent app which is excellent for data collection as it prepopulates the data we already hold and parents simply update it. but we are moving to sims next gen and already have satchel and the sims parent lite app didn't get rave reviews on here.
  12. That is odd then as both Am and Pm should as you rightly point out be populated with Z's with no option to change. So you will need to escalate to ESS support.
  13. Is this in sims.net ? have you checked the start date?
  14. Be sure to factor in the cost of a decent firewall if you intend to go off network, lots of routers come with them built in but you'll need to know how to get it locked down really well.
  15. My initial thoughts are I agree this seems to be a bit off, but public interest probably does come into play here, many schools publish names and pictures of their staff on school websites and i doubt the staff had much choice over that. It might be worth asking one of the teachers their views on it and seeing if they have any specific concerns.
  16. Yes best to do out of hours or during holiday, ensure that the scopes are fully replicated, log into what will be your main new DHCP server delete the failover, be sure it works then DHCP can be removed from old server, ensure any vlans with helpers are updated.
  17. In Short yes always RAMS but you should keep your own asbestos register which should be read inwardly digested and signed by all contractors. As for the process itself i follow a PRINCE light approach. Check that the project is justified and remains so throughout its delivery Use lessons learned and add learning to the organisation when the project is completed Establish everyone has clear roles and responsibilities Split a project into stages for planning and control Defined tolerance levels and authority limits Focus on products and achieve expected quality level
  18. Yes absolutely https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/troubleshoot/windows-server/group-policy/use-group-policy-to-install-software
  19. Do students use Azure? is this specific to azure there is no mention of Microsoft 365 (office apps email etc) so i hope and pray this is just for those logging on to the azure portal..
  20. try using this command when calling
  21. Are you using a command script as a wrapper for the vbs script, i'm not sure windows 10 will now directly allow .vbs scripts to run from group policy.
  22. I admit i've never seen that setting before but a quick search of tinternet shows, The “Register domain-joined computers as devices” Group Policy setting is used to automatically register domain-joined computers as devices in Azure Active Directory (Azure AD). When enabled, it allows seamless integration between on-premises Active Directory and Azure AD. However, it’s important to note that this setting is different from the MDM enrollment setting. While MDM enrollment is related to mobile device management, the “Register domain-joined computers as devices” setting specifically deals with Azure AD registration. If you want to enable Azure AD registration for domain-joined computers, you can enable this setting.
  23. Scrap that it turns out it doesn't effect all, just early years.
  24. we have started using this only these last two weeks although not really in anger, my test users have all said if we could import our own marksheets we would have everything we need and not need to use the client version anymore, they seem impressed with it.
  25. can i ask does this problem only exist for early years or should all schools be worrying about this issue? Apologies if this is a dumb question..
