I'm a casual fan of the show. Went the 50th Anniversary celebrations at the ExCel with a friend. Saw the of the older Doctors (Sylvestor is barmy!) and then Matt Smith, Jenna and the Moff later on. Apart from the queueing, it was quite cool. Saw the 50th Anniversary episode at the Barbican which was nice. Not impressed that i missed a SHERLOCK TRAILER THOUGH!!

Ah thats interesting. I guess it makes sense. I never really thought about it, just asked them to do it for us and it was done.

Do the schools LA own the sch.uk domain? Maybe contact them. We had an outside agency design ours so i contacted Link2ICT and they edited their end...

I think the plan was, as its only one class at the moment, to send letters out telling the parents about it and giving them the opportunity to opt out.

At some point i'm going to have bite the bullet and accept tablets into the school. I have no issues with them, more the management bit. One of our AHT's is keen to try out twitter in a class and thinks it's more likely to be used if it's on a tablet type device (and hes probably right). Now i'd really like a Surface Pro to try out because of being able to put it on a domain and Target Tracker would work on it, but i dont think our PTA is going to pay for one of those (could still try). What would you recommend? Also, my disseration for uni is about Tablet use in schools so might as well use this for that too, so i would be grateful if you could answer the questions below. Don't have to write an essay, i just want a feel for what devices are popular and why. Primary/secondary? What are you guys using in your school? How are they used? Are they managed? Why did you choose that particular device? Price? can be managed? SLT made me? other

Riddle me this then people: Label printer constantly complaining there are no labels I do everything i would normally do to troubleshoot a printer Give up, come here. Witch suggests something quite feasible contact company, they send new labels, issue still stands they send chap out, chap (does what i did) "fixes" it, 3 hours later issue back company comes out again, replaces touch screen (had issues anyway), printer and USB lead Issue again next day company tells me it's definately the labels cus other schools now have the problem and that sorted it sent new labels issue still there...

Oh yes, foundation i'm giving a break as i know they print photos for profiles etc. I was going to do it by Phases (Foundation, Yr1&Yr2, Yr3&Yr4, Yr5&Yr6). Then at least staff can either be pulled up in Phase meetings or personally if needs be, by their head of phase (also SLT).

Problem is we're a primary, so no real departments to bill etc. I'm doing it as a way of making staff stop and think before printing. Notice how i haven't mentioned the kids? That's cus they print hardly anything!

Using papercut at the moment, wondering if there's a way to email reports to certain staff of certain staff. I shall try the phase leader again, last time he just laughed. But will try SLT overall. We don't have a colour photocopier....I wont go there, it's not under my control....

Who does it? Is there any comeback from it? Since i orignally alerted staff to their printing, a lot of them have calmed down and put a bit more thought into it. Except one, she just seems to have ignored everything ive said and she's actually my main culprit. This member of staff printed 66 pages of colour on Friday (when i wasn't here). I've given them all £3 worth of credit (but they don't know and it's not limited) because i was trying to gauge how much the need and how much they go through in a week, and after a week the majority of staff still have credit available, the member of staff in question used her entire £3 in one sitting. I've removed the names from my original print out and plan to stick that on the board just to open their eyes a bit. Is it my job to go around lecturing staff on their printing, or is it the role of the Phase leader perhaps? Thanks

Had a play with the Envy today. Seems like a nice bit of kit. Reviews said there is a bit of flex in the centre of the keyboard which there does seem to be. Apart from thinking for the price they could've tried a bit harder, I don't see that being a huge problem. It's a bit weighty, but for me it's pretty much a desktop replacement I guess so not an issue either. I think what it comes down to is that I'm tight and the price tag scares me lol!

Haswells seem to have HD 4000's....

Yeah. I'm not sold on touch screen yet. But it's got a 4th gen and nvidea...unless these days I won't have the same issue with intel graphics and games refusing to work because of it?

Oh yeah. I totally get that, just didn't realise how expensive things had got! Lol
