RDS is just TS renamed isnt it? Was just looking at TS/RDS Gateway...that needs IIS and NAP...but it does look very complex. I need something to demonstrate and say "ok, here it is on the server, and here it is working"...

Well, thanks everyone for the help with this. In the end i followed the Foundation Network Guide mentioned above and it all seemed to go well, AD, DNS and DHPC seem to be setup. i managed to get one client attached too! Woo hoo! haha! We also need to choose a role to install. The choices are: Windows Server Update Services Windows Deployment Services Streaming media server Web Server (IIS) Remote Desktop Services Print and Document Services Network Policy and Access Services File Services As you can see, some of these are just clicking through a wizard. It needs to be a beefy role, otherwise we have to choose 2. It also has to be something we'd consider implementing at work. I was looking at Remote Desktop Services as i've have been looking at technologies to allow remote access from home. Lecture still didn't think it was a beefy role! I asked if i could add HAP+ but it has to be a MS Technology. Has anyone setup RDS successfully and got it doing quite a bit of work? The other biggy is WDS, but i think my friend/fellow student is doing that and i don't want to be seen as copying her.

I have to say, those touchscreens have got me interested...excellent product placement.

In a not so "woe is me" thread, i'm interested to know where people are purchasing their personal laptops from... I'm after one of those slim ones without the CD drive. I'm not sure what brands are popular at the moment. I want it to be as powerful as it can for £400. It's so much easier buying for school! Anyone bought one recently they're pleased with?

When trying to create a new one, it says it wants a subject name. There's a drop down with options such as Full DN, Common name etc. I did notice that in the error above it was searching for CN=CURRICSVR2.harborne.pri. Sorry if this seems a bit obvious to people, i've never had to deal with certs before...

Oh ok...not stupid at all! I haven't got a clue. So when creating a new certificate, what the deal with the Subject?

Ok, that moved me on but now the next error is

I'm currently having issues with Netbooks connecting to our wireless system (Ruckus, Radius etc). After some digging around, it came to my attention that the day the netbooks stopped connecting was the day that a cetificate on that server expired. So i've spent all day yesterday playing with certificates...this is the first time i've ever had any dealings with them. I've renewed the cert i thought was causing the issue, but there's still an error: In the failed requests folder Request 124 is "A required certificate is not within it's validity period......" "Error verifying Request Signature or Signing Certificiate" Now i've found a certificate that has expired but when i try to renew it i get told that "The permissions on the certificate template do not allow the current user to enroll for this type of certificate" Enroll? Also noticed that in the Enterprise PKI it's complaining that it cant find the #2 location for AIA, DeltaCRL and CDP. Anyone got any pointers?

I rebooted the server with the certificate issues and Radius. Noticed before I left that it still claims there's a certificate out of date. Will look get more details shortly.

We're in the same boat. This was setup up by a company post fire so i'm a little out of my depth...

See, i thought i was daft to consider this. I have had one wired in but it made no difference. Is there a way to force it down? Though if i go to certmrg.msc i can see it in there....

Radius is curricsvr2. 802.1x I've renewed the cert on curricsvr2 but the netbooks are still not authenticating, have i missed a bit?

The more i skip through things like Event Viewer, the more the certificate thing is starting to look likely. How does one renew and already expired certificate?
