So i been given an proliant server to play around with and learn from. It had windows 2003 pre installed and i went into the HP Array Configuration Utility and accidently deleted the raid configuration. What's the best root to get it back up and running as the raid had the os on the raid and would like to recover it. I think it was raid one had 3 drives mirrored. Now when i boot it's not finding a boot disk. Any help would be great guys Thanks in advance

Hello All I'm creating a small calendar in Excel and i was wondering whats the best way to input data in to my table. So far my ideas to have a data input form where i select a name and enter my custom date with my custom text. My logic behind this on my form i select "Tom" from a a drop down, and then i insert the date "16/02/2012" and in my custom text box i would enter in something like SF which should populate cell E6 with SF. (see example below) I've got very basic VBA skills which i did in collage way back but i don't putting some effort in to learning.

I'm thinking of obtaining some MS quals too but i'd like the MCITP SA but the deadlines Jul 2013 so I don't know if ill cut it in time. Looking for a antivirus for our server which is running windows server 2003 with AD and File-server. As we are a non profit, our budgets are very tight. We did have Kaspersky but that's finishing soon been looking at ClamWin but it doesn't seem to offer live protection. The workstations are running Windows Security Essentials. Recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks

@shenley I agree qualifications ain't important. But recruiters and HR departments seem disconnected with us tech folks and they seem quite robotic with thier selection process. @gshaw hehe I'd love to have a server I hope santa leaves a nice server under my Xmas tree I promise I been good all year lol. But it's certainly one of the things I been thinking about. I wonder what the min spec would be for hyperv / Citrix set up

Hello All I been lurking about the forum and the internet but just get overwhelmed with all the information and options, like most people that post here I've got a bit of experience and looking in to getting some qualifications. The problem is what's the best route and qualifications?? Just wondering where i should start MCSE MCITP ? Are workshops worth it or should I pace it out in my own time with home learning? I'm particularly interested in moving forward in to the Virtualization side of things, deploying networks in citrix/vmware/hyper v etc. I think i read in one of the other posts its best to get familiar with Microsoft server first then move in to Virtualisation I'm passionate about technology i been breaking and fixing computers since I was 12. (I'd do it for free if I didn't have to pay the bills!) So I think i'd be a quick learner and pick up things quite quickly. Background: My current situation is I'm working as an IT Systems Administrator which is a mixture of paid and volunteer role at a well established local community radio station. I've been there a year, I started out as a junior techy but i've taken over responsibilities, as the IT head left unexpectedly. So i'm left to manage a bunch of servers, one of them is a 2008 server with 40 clients. I know I have quite a few gaps with server management skills. So the only time I really learn about it when something goes wrong lol! I'm 25 years old and poor i'm looking for possible funding (i'd ask the radio station but they have been hit by all the spending cuts). Education = BSc Multimedia + NVQ3 AVCE IT Look foward to what you think guys and girls

@X-13 LMAO.whoho trololol lol lol im feeling the festive spirit. but besides that @MelodicBrush i'd suggest you start building a good base of contacts and get word out. Recruiters are getting overwhelmed with CVs, they might not even look at ur CV, so who you know matters more now days in my opinion. Theres a lot of good people here to give you advice. But also you can pick up quite a few jobs fixing peoples computers or odd jobs here and there. Once i cleaned a family friends computer of virus for next to nowt and next thing they asking me to help set up a small network for a solicters firm which i made a good amount on. Also for now cut out your distractions i always find things like xbox facebook, friends etc sometimes get in the way. But good luck mate

Hey All, First of all this is my first post, i stumbled on this forum after googling about Microsoft qualifications. I don't really participate in forum chat but i think edugeek looks like a quality community to be part off and contribute to! The reason why i signed up was to ask for advice of the tech professionals Just a little about myself... I been in to computers since a very young age, I've literally spent most of my life in-front of a computer screen, i still have a social life and do enjoy being around people lol but my passions always been in technology and always quick to pick technical things up. I've always found it hard to learn the traditional text book way of things rather i'm more hands on. I've graduated in 2008, i'm 25 and been working here and there and signing on JSA quite often this as got quite depressing and i makes me feel like i'm wasting my time and also like a bum. All i want a good job, learn more and i feel i have a lot offer. I realised university was just a big waste and a scam, but it was something that my school and parents pressured me in to doing with out considering my qualities our other routes available. Now i stand with a lack of industry experience and massive gap between qualifications and employment. I've done a lot in my own time from fixing and building countless computers building small networks for friends family etc, right now just messing around with setting up 2008 r2 on vmware and i'll have ago at getting sharepoint on there aswell just to learn more. Particular areas of interest are virtualisation and emerging web technologies. (Ive also attached my cv and profile) For those who work in the industry i kindly ask for your expertise and advice.
