I agree with the others. Drive to Vegas. LA was underwhelming for me, although I guess it's another pin in the map. Depending on the time of day, you might want to add an extra hour or so on your journey and drive towards hollywood boulevard to at least say you've seen it. Worth seeing the hoover dam, and possibly going up to the skywalk. We past both in a helicopter from Vegas airport before landing and having breakfast in the canyon - returning by flying down the strip. If you're in Vegas a couple of nights it's worth walking the strip, but I also recommend getting the deuce bus up to freemont street. The older part of town now covered with a huge screen over head which has free entertainment on every night and the older, smaller casinos. You can grab a beer for a couple of dollars up there too. If you get off the bus a stop early, you can visit the Gold & Silver Pawn Shop if that's your thing.

The other thing to note, and it may make you reconsider your options... Your primary domain becomes your usernames to log in with. You have to type the whole thing when you want to log in. Your users will be grateful of the shortest domain possible. [email protected] may be a handful, where as [email protected] for example may be much more manageable. You can add the .sch.uk address in later too.

A DHCP client request is a broadcast - it has no known destination. Your ACL may not have any effect. If you vlan, you can then setup an ip-helper address for the different vlans. This forwards the broadcast to the correct server.

Are your byod devices in a different vlan from your domain machines?

I guess you could. Not aware of any T&C that suggests you can only use GAFE if you use the gmail app. Usual caveats apply though. You'd need to ensure your ICO register was up to date to explain that you are storing information outside of the EEA.

Wireshark can go on either really - I'd tend to use it on a client personally. I can take a quick look at the logs if you PM me. I'd put the potential network configuration issues to one side for a while until you work out why your internet only runs at 25% when your devices are connected.

If speed is slower on your network than when you're directly connected it probably will be one of two things. Contention - ie. more devices all trying to use the net at the same time, or noise. If some of your devices are causing lots of broadcast traffic, this will result in the increase in ping and therefore slow down speeds. Fire up wireshark. I'd guess you might see lots of 'where is xxx tell yyy'. If you need help interpreting the results of a wireshark scan - post some of the data here. Have you spoken with Northern Grid? Their router may already be showing signs of your issue if you can get them to have a look.

Have you done a gpupdate on the server and a client to ensure they both use the latest version? On your client try running gpresult /R is the policy being run by the client?

Looks more compact (but lacking a bit in power compared to the Anker) but I think the fact that I can change cables on the Anker rather than use an adapter when we go abroad will be useful. I did the same with my camera battery charger last year in America. Bought a £2 US plug to figure of eight and off it went (being that it could do 110/230/240). I've got a European figure of eight as well which just lives in the suitcase. I've been thinking about the portable power devices too - handy for a day trip out (bett for example). Nobody seems to have mentioned the Data Protection Act? Principle 7 states: "Appropriate technical and organisational measures shall be taken against unauthorised or unlawful processing of personal data and against accidental loss or destruction of, or damage to, personal data." If you lost your MIS data - which is likely to be the most up-to-date therefore primary record of pupil and staff personal data (names, addresses, DOBs, medical info etc) you would be obliged to inform the Information Commissioners Office. What they would do depends on what other records you have and how accurate and up-to-date that info is, I'd guess.

Our generic accounts tend to have a password shared by those that need access. Not the ideal solution, but it prevents multiple people answering one email if you have the account forward mail to numerous people. The other option is delegated access to the mailbox, but I haven't had time to play with this yet. Go into options, settings, accounts and grant access to your account. Let us know how well it works!

We do it exactly as you want. We start typing a name or email address and the options start to list below. Multiple entries must be separated with a comma. Changing contact sharing info can take up to 24 hours I believe, so if you've only just changed it that could be why. The account also has to be active - so if that user hasn't yet logged into and agreed to googles T&C's I don't think the account will show up.

We look after about a dozen schools connected to Schools Broadband, but none of them are close to your area I'm afraid. We have a range of ADSL, FTTC and leased line connections depending on what is available to the school. Speed is generally very good. The hosted Lightspeed and Fortinet services work well. There have been a few hiccups in the past, but things seem very stable now. If you want a complete solution provider, they are a good choice I'd say. If you want to pick and choose suppliers and services (like I'm guessing @FN-GM does) then others may be a better bet. Who are you with at the moment and how are you connected? Why do you want to change?
