I want to know more about this product too. Has anyone actual experiance of using it. FYI Ranger Outpost and SSL explorer do similar functions. The difference with CSE Webspace explorer is that you only open your network to one IP address for CSE to connect in as CSE act as a kind of proxy. The technical details on CSE's website are a bit vague it costs £3/user/year Would like to know what software they need to install on our server(s) and how much load say 50 concurrent users would put on the server network bandwidth and CPU etc.

Hmm there appear to be two 600i's SMART - 600i for educators and VideoCentric UK SMARTBoard SMART 660i, SMART680i Intelligent, Electronic Whiteboard System I personally like the look of the second one. Is this now replaced by the top one? The thing that really impresses me about these integrated Smartboards is that all the AV functions such as amplifier volume and projector input selection appear to be integrated into the software. Is this the case? Can they be controlled by one remote? Has anyone used these and found it to be easy in practice? We have all Promethean's and the number of times teachers are confused by the over complicated Cambridge audio amplifiers:mad::mad: supplied with the Promethean boards. And don't even get me started on the maze of cabling!!!!!

Hi, Has anyone come across a network utility that will display the status of network cards at the logon screen BEFORE a user logs on? Preferably i want to display Wireless connection status so a user can check if they have connectivity to a domain controller before logging in. Obviously this is really just a work around as i wouldn't need this utility if the wireless network was reliable. Having said that it might be useful to some people. Once you are logged in there are many such as Bandwidth Monitor - Monitor Bandwidth, Network Bandwidth Monitor, Bandwidth Monitor Software and a few yahoo widgets Searching for wifi - Yahoo! Widgets I was looking at these because we hide the system tray in our group policy for students and i wanted an other way to show the network status as it sometimes drops out after logon too The problem I had with the yahoo widget was that i wanted to lock it down so kids could not change the settings of the widget but I gave up trying to get it to work for other users (just the user I made the setting with and I tried putting the settings in a default profile)

So the windows install procedure run from full product media will detect any previous OS and allow me to enter a new key without loosing programs installed and configuration from the previous OS (Windows 2003 Std R2 SP1). So am I correct in saying that an Educational Select Product Key is a type of Volume Licensing Product Key?

Have been told by our LA who negotiate cheap Select Licence deals from MS that in order to use their keys that we must have matching CD Windows Server 2003 Media. They want to charge £27 for the media. We already have VLK media labeled "Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition with Service Pack 1 (Volume Licence Product Key Required)" June 2006 End Item Part No. P73-01313 Will the LA's Select key work with this media? Also due to piracy we have to tell them the serial numbers of all the machines we would use their select licences on. Not sure what happens if i want to install 2003 on a temporary box and then migrate to another later. I am currently using a 120 day trial licence. The LA have told me that I would have to pay the full corperate price for 2003 if I upgraded the 120 trial through MS or a reseller. There does not seem to be anything on the MS site about making a 120 day trial of server 2003 permanent.

Hi, We used NSO to outfit 2 rooms. The bigger case they do are great, very sturdy but the narrow cases are pants. The picture we saw before purchase did not show the huge ventilation holes to the top that kids could drop things into. Fortunately this rooms is monitored by a teacher who takes looking after the room seriously. I take the point about best value not meaning cheapest as NSO was not my choice unfortunately i made the mistake of shortlisting them and them my boss simply picked the cheap (and nasty) option (i wanted to get an all in one or HP Workcenter solution as desktop footprint was a big issue). We are now paying the price as we have sent back 9 out of the 25 machines with faulty power supplies in the 1st year.

@John: Is this VLE module for sharepoint free to download? Was it written by MS? Is it ClassServer? We have sharepoint which was slightly customised for us. We are displeased with the ImageViewer webpart. It is simply too difficult for teacher to display images in their pages. You first have to upload the images ascertain their URL's and them feed these URL's into the webpart. This is very long winded. The picture of the day slideshow webpart is easier but feeling very skeptical about sharepoint. @Others: We are thinking about FrogTeacher. Any news on CMIS integration? We need something that we can roll out fast that the teachers can really run with. Supporting AD single sign on integration and current or future support for CMIS.

Hi, Just spotted this and thought it would be polite to let ppl know how this was fixed. .....Well not fixed as such. This Censornet points to our LA's proxy filter. We added the censornet to add some local granularity for us locally. The LA were using an iMimic platform. When they switched over to Squidcache and Webwasher the problem disappeared!!!
