Surprisingly, you can still buy carbon paper in Staples, so some people must use it. Perhaps it's what tattooists use when they stencil on the design before starting the painful bit? When we had proper computers, with spinning mag tapes and line printers which took 15x11 continuous stationary, we would print on multi-part stationary with carbon between the paper sheets. You would then remove this with a decollator. We thought all our Christmas's had come at once when NCR (no carbon required) paper was introduced. you try and tell the young people today that... and they won't believe ya'.

We too use an excel spreadsheet which us converted to pdf and displayed on the intranet. It's all fine at the start of the year, but now you have to scroll past 10 months to get to what you want to know. So next year, we're going to have a calendar in outlook which is shared amongst all staff as read and the calendar maintainers will have full access. It is up to each staff member to add that to their outlook client, either desktop or owa. We have this in place already, although not all of the dates haven't been entered yet. Nighty, my Frankenstein powershell script runs as a cron to extract the calendar from outlook to csv. There is also a php script which takes the csv and manipulates into three other files, a csv for the public facing website (which excludes staff meetings, slt events, etc), a csv for the intranet (which includes everything) and an ical file (which might include everything). The two csvs are used by the JEvents Joomla module. One calendar is displayed via iframe on the public facing website (which is some strange propriety cms) and the other is displayed on the Joomla intranet. The ical file can be imported into the calendar app on the teachers iOS and Android tablets. This will ensure that changes made to the outlook calendar, will appear on the website and intranet the next day.

It's good to see you're going to use the wraps correctly. I've seen several who put them on at the start of the gym session and leave them on to the end! Same with their weight belt. I saw a bloke the other day, with his belt on backwards! Personally, I don't use anything for lifting - I've never felt the need, even when I used to squat with body weight on the bar. If I'm lifting in my shed and it's cold (when you can see your breath) I'll wear gloves to keep the hands warm. I don't like to wear gloves - I like to feel the bar in my hands and I can't with gloves. We're lucky being a sixth form college - we get very little vandalism. We get the odd bit of accidental damage so we just replace the item when it is reported. At the first school I was at (a grammar school) we used to have to weld the bottom of the mice up with a soldering iron otherwise the oiks would nick the balls. When optical mice came cheap enough, they would nick them, so we used cable ties on the wires. They managed to undo them, so we secured the mice and keyboard to the desk with a P clip and a screw. We had to replace the normal wood screws with security screws when they managed to undo them. At the last school, they would nick the space bar off keyboards - nothing else, just the space bar. We would replace the space bar with any old key from a junk keyboard.

I have the same problem as enjay, so I leave my lanyard on the desk and carry it when I need to go to the loo. Going to the loo has been a pain for the last couple of days - they've coned off one of the doors and we have to walk all the way around to the other side of the building to get to the staff facilities. I never feel right about using the student facilities.

Problem solved! I brought a cleaning cloth to work today. Of course, next week the problem won't exist, as I'll be back in shirt and tie.

I'm not wearing a tie today and I'm finding it difficult to clean my glasses.

With us, devices supplied to students are theirs, so it isn't a problem. With staff iPads, a phone call did the job in the one instance it wasn't returned. I guess we could use Meraki and/or Apple Device Manager to lock the staff iPad. I don't know if Meraki can lock an Android device, which a couple of staff have. Meraki does show where the device is, so we could send the heavies around!

I find the shouty bloke really annoying. Form should be top of the agenda no matter what exercise your doing. My favourite exercise is pullups - I usually stop at 8 sets of 8, through boredom. I could keep going all day, since nobody ever wants to use the chinup bar! There were two at my last gym - one was on the front of the squat rack which was a bit inconvenient. Where I go now, there is a functional rig with lots of bars for chinups. It's pretty much mine.

I find this really bizarre. As we know 01/01/1970-00:00:00 is unixtime 0 and we add the unixtime (seconds) of the date we want to 0 and then it returns the correct date. So X+0 is fine but X isn't !?! Anyway, thanks for all your help!
