Data Managers using Arbor
coconurtaler replied to coconurtaler's topic in Data Managers's Data Managers Topics
We also have plans to move to Arbor at some point in the next year, but I don't know when yet. My previous school went from SIMS to Progresso ( which was terrible at first but I didn't hate after 2 years) then back to SIMS following a trust change. I have recently heard they are moving to Arbor soon too. Like SpreadsheetJockey I feel it is something I do every couple of years, and in some ways I'd rather get it over with sooner than later. SIMS is ok and it works but it is rather old and clunky. At least all these changes mean we don't get bored -
We are changing Trust in September and wish to move more in line with other schools in the new Trust. i.e. SIMS with Go4Schools for assessment. It looks like the SIMS move might not happen until Feb half term or Easter but I can't see any reason why we can't start using Go for assessment in September straight away. I really don't want to have to set everything up in Progresso and then do it all again in Go4Schools and have to transfer everything over.

Does anyone use both Progresso and Go4Schools? Are there any problems I should be aware of? Thanks

RM Safety net and SSL filters - newbie questions

Off topic but it made me laugh. Think yourself lucky to have missed the joys of Progresso 18.6 released over Christmas. -
YEAR 6 ADMISSIONS - Our Year 6 co-ordinator has received an ADT (Admissions Data Transfer) file from County, has to sort this out and rank the students, and then return it to County as an ASL (Admissions School List) file. Apparently SIMS accommodates this, but Progresso appears not to. Also, with SIMS we used to be able to put Year 6 on as Applied/Accepted whereas with Progresso this is not possible and only picks students up once they need to be draft. Can anyone give any guidance please? Is there any other way to create an ASL file or can this only be done in SIMS? Thanks

We have been with Progresso for just over a year now and you would think we would be fluent with it now but that isn't the case. There is a lot of potential with the SSRS reports but the basics just don't work. It is slow and full of bugs and you have to swap browsers as some things work on one but not another. Several tasks have to be repeated as there is a maximum of 200 pupils visible at a time so if you have just over 200 in a year group you have to do it twice. I could go on, but I'll stop now.

No one has suggested Progresso yet.

We moved to Progresso we setup several user defined fields to record SEN data. The SEN department update it via the SEN tab on the Learner record and we wrote a report to display it. We also managed to get it linked to a copy of the teaching groups widget so teachers can click the arrow under SN for their class to see all the info available.

Ah, there is an answer. I didn't know this. 1. Go to Source | select the Timetable Details for the previous Academic Year. 2. Click OK. 3. Go to Timetable | Timetable Views. 4. Select 'View for Individual' and filter to the learner. 5. Select 'View timetable for' and set it to Date Range. 6. It is possible to view the timetable for a six week period. - - - Updated - - - Ah, there is an answer. I didn't know this. 1. We have just had another request to see what a student timetable was for last year. Does anyone know how we can get this with Progresso? And while I am asking is it possible to get previous years attendance too? Thanks for your help I haven't been able to get an answer anywhere else.

Regarding attendance data from last year. I logged a call with Advanced a couple of weeks ago but they have not yet provided a solution. Hey Ho

Thank you for that. I have done this for head of Maths and English so far and it seems to be working. We will get there in the end, it is just knowing the best way to set things up as the manuals are not all that great. Cheers.
