  1. Interesting news relating to Microsoft's plans for the Windows 10 app store: Microsoft will launch Windows Store for Business with Windows 10 | TechRadar Windows 10 will beef up its store with retooled iOS and Android apps | TechRadar Good news, if they get it right.
  2. FYI @mikkydoos the supplier I PM'd you came in at under £9,000 pa for 200/1000 and an FTTC backup.
  3. The https://sa.education.gov.uk/idp/Authn/UserPassword page is the one that was needed. Thanks!
  4. So does anyone know where we are supposed to go for our CTF files now?
  5. Just had a call from our front office saying that they can't get to https://securedatatransfer.teachernet.gov.uk for their CTF files, I immediately thought that Smoothwall was blocking something but this does not seem to be the case looking at the logs. I also get the same message when tethered to my phone and on non domain computers. Anyone else having problems with this today?
  6. Other things to consider if this is BYOD, are the apps available across all platforms (Android, Chrome, iOS, Mobile Windows)? What if someone has an iPad 1 and the app needs iOS 7+ to install. Very difficult to expand beyond browser use for BYOD because you have no idea what the device is and what it is able to support. Would your Network infrastructure and internet connection cope with downloading that many apps simultaneously? You may need to set QoS on Smoothwall to stop it from killing the internet for everyone else.
  7. I do like a lot of the Greens proposals but not their policy on immigration (I believe there must be some form of restriction / limit), I also wonder how they are going to pay for the proposed £10 minimum wage and free prescriptions (although scrapping HS2 will help). I think scrapping performance related pay for teachers and eliminating Ofsted are very bad ideas and as we are working in education are issues that directly affect us all. That all said they are probably the party I disagree with the least (if that makes sense).
  8. If you are using Server 2008 you will need to use ADM templates not ADMX.
  9. I have used them in the past. Once though they sent out the wrong variant of a particular model, I didn't notice until I saw that it was 2GB of RAM down from the one purchased. In fairness they too it back without too much of an argument despite the box being opened.
  10. Netflix and Sky (pretty much for the sports channels and a few others).
  11. See RM article DWN3152898 for everything you need to know about importing or creating CC4 packages. When you say create new package is this with a build machine using AppWizard or importing an msi or exe into the RMMC?
  12. As I have said before, I have never tried this and it is probably flawed at a very fundamental level. You can export the RMMC product from another machine running the RMMC. However I doubt this will work given how many dependencies the RMMC will have. I also would not try to connect it to a live CC4 network in case it somehow corrupts the postgress database. On your head be it and so forth.
  13. Could the same not be achieved by just using an RDC session to one of your servers / workstations where the RMMC is installed?
  14. Never tried, but the question I immediately would ask is; why would you want to?
  15. The driver version numbers and names need to be identical for it to work on CC4, the best way to tell is get an x64 workstation and try from that. If it works on x64 but not on x86 then it is almost certainly related to additional drivers not being correct.
  16. Before you do that; are you using an x86 workstation? If so did you add the 32-bit drivers as additional drivers to the server?
  17. Ah, never even looked at that view before. Mine are empty too. Wouldn't have thought it was anything to worry about although would obviously be helpful in certain scenarios.
  18. The printers tab on the computer properties only shows printers assigned at the workstation level. At the bottom of that window it says: "This computer also may have printer connections that have been set for its location. Click here to view them." Click the link to see a list of inherited printers.
  19. Have you shared it in AD like you would with a normal printer? The RMMC will only populate printers that can be seen in AD. Edit: chris beat me to it.
  20. I have heard many conversations in schools where the justification for X, Y & Z is that kids only get one chance at an education. I'm sure many of use here would agree that this is utter rubbish, people have countless opportunities to be educated / learn. One thing is fact, you do only get one childhood. You miss that and it is gone forever! Kids just aren't allowed to be kids anymore, its very sad.
  21. But it did influence my Halloween costume, just minus the cattle prod!
  22. Schools HR works exactly the same when not connected to BGFL, tether your phone to a computer and see. Census is done via S2S which as mentioned before is a manual process. Post 13 of this thread shows the format for uploading data for Crisp, but your SENCO will not be able to access the portal anymore for reviews.
  23. Taking the same plunge this year. Went with RM for a 200Mb line on a gig bearer, backup FTTC line and Smoothwall for significantly less than the renewal quote we had through. All kicking off over Easter!
  24. I have had 5406zl and 5412zl at the core for my pervious establishments, can't fault them. You can normally get deals on the 5412zl to include 4 x 10/100/1000 24 port PoE modules. The chassis also supports a variety of 10Gig options.
  25. Thanks will give this a try. Edit: works a treat, thanks!
