  1. @ICTDirect_Dave Thank you so much!! Day tickets booked for the Saturday
  2. That's a great idea -But do I buy a day ticket for Sat or Sun - over £100 for both of us - gotta get it right
  3. Some lovely ideas there. I especially like the Planet Rock one as he does listen to that station. I will have to keep a lookout for next year. Canal barge good too, and a vintage flight from Compton Abbas worth a look The problem with most of the ideas is that they are either far too expensive, or they are too expensive for the amount of interest he has in them. He's done a parachute jump, he's not interested in trains as far as I know. DIY isn't something that moves him. He's done a bit over the years - as you do when bringing up a family - but I dont think it would ever be his choice. Present him with a fully fitted out workroom with metal and wood lathes etc, yes, he might like that - but that isnt going to happen anytime soon (shame really because I'd like that too). The altruistic presents - we do that sort of thing all year round and so as a Christmas present - not so much. He's done flyboarding and we have both done the titan zipwire in Wales - now that was fun! Food - er - mrwITch eats red meat and potatoes, and I'm veggie/vegan. So restaurants aren't really our thing. Neither of us cares much about food anyway. Thanks all though - keep the ideas coming please
  4. Yes, he does have archival quality vinyl Not that he isnt a nice guy, but sponsoring something like that just wouldnt interest him. I already do sponsor a child The batmobile sounds great but it is quite a way from here and the nearest one has an upgrade fee of £25 for weekends He doesnt really get excited over stuff like that - he would enjoy it yes, but not be thrilled. He's done a microlight (he loved it, b£$%£% terrified me to watch), had a helicopter ride, all sorts
  5. Quite amusing but not great for the planet though
  6. He doesnt really do a lot - I bought him a Canon 400D a few years ago and he likes to fiddle with it when we are on holiday. I have seen a much newer one on Marketplace - a Canon 1300D for £130 and I am tempted to get it - but would need to know if his lenses fit. He's done a one day photography course - the longer ones are really really expensive
  7. He doesnt drink spirits and we have a cupboard full of them He isnt interested in fishing at all We have a record player and loads of old vinyl -yes, we are that old We have a metal detector I have been looking for an experience day - he's done the driving ones
  8. He's got one. It's on a shelf Ditto Helicopter
  9. TBH the characters in the book The Girl on the Train weren't very nice people either
  10. The man is impossible He doesnt wear jewellery He doesnt wear aftershave He doesnt care about clothes He apparently doesnt need anything for his 3D printer hobby (we all jumped on that and bought every accessory known to man last year) He has a backlog of books to read He did an escape room for his birthday, and really loved it - but apparently doesn't want another one (What? He just might get one anyway at this rate) In the past I have come up with blindsiders - new camera, new phone, tablet, kitesurfing, photography course etc but this year the mind is blank He likes music but I cant find any bands he likes that are touring next year. The Specials, 2 tone anything, B52s, ZZTop, Grateful Dead, King Crimson Argghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
  11. Yes, the presumption that I wouldnt know what sort of plane makes a sonic boom - particularly as we were brought up with them and therefore much discussion was had locally about it - is a little bit...annoying... But I saw Concord flying many times so there's that
  12. Yes, I know - it was Concord
  13. I was brought up on the outskirts of the Heathrow flight path. We heard sonic booms all the time. Never from an RAF jet though, I don't think. I would love to hear one again
  14. Trick....
  15. Hmm Don't want the child to be able to control the other PC but cant see where you would set a view only password Also, those websites are really confusing - do I install it on both ends? Can't have anything where the teachers have to enter anything too confusing?
  16. only windows, I think. But I could use laptops
  17. We have Office 2016 - seems to work well for me so I will tell her. Not quite sure what she wants to do with it so other options very welcome
  18. Thanks - we used it in our old school and the issue with it then was the huge amount of setup needed to get it working at all
  19. Looking for recommendations for some sort of mirroring software so that a visually impaired child can see what is on the big screen on a small screen in their hands. Currently they have iPads. The big screen is run by a windows PC Is this possible - everything I see goes the other way, from iPad to PC? If it isnt possible the child can use a small laptop Free is best, cheap is OK
  20. I have been asked to look for a program that provides what the SEN dept want as follows: "We need to have the ability to use speak to text and a text speak resource." Can anyone advise me of a good program? They want one with a "human" sounding voice
