I don't see this as an option listed under PROPERTY (using Orca).

I had the same "please wait" with the previous update as well (7u25 from memory) but to a lesser extent. It was so bad this time I had to back out the update so people could logon (it didn't show in testing).

To update: we had all 3 in, albeit I wasn't involved in the meetings. NRS impressed the most, so now it's a case of waiting for quotes.

We just got an Ipevo ZiggiHD, only £76 on Amazon. Quality is fab, and it's so good vs. price that we're waiting for the first problem to show up (but so far, nothing).

Curiously a fair few machines with problems this morning, all getting stuck at the "Please Wait" before the logon screen appears. All related to either the Java or latest flash deployment over GP. I removed the deployments and that resolved it. Oddly it seems to be our fastest PCs, often those with SSDs, that get stuck by this. Other machines are unaffected. I had this before with a handful of machines and the Java/Flash update but turning them off and on resolved it. Not this time. I'll do some testing later on... (note the update had been tested on a small group of IT department machines, but I wonder if this relates to sending out an uninstall command followed by the update itself over the weekend. Normally I do this during the school day)

Fair play to RM. I was contacted by a couple of managers from support, followed up by a phone call with some assistance on a currently open ticket, followed by contact details for future escalation.

GP gives the option to uninstall when you remove, or just leave installed on the PC. I think I'll go with uninstall moving forwards. One day I'll get around to setting up SCCM...

Also, when removing old versions is it best to tell GP to uninstall immediately, or just leave them in place on the basis that the new version should overwrite? We have had some workstations with multiple versions of Java, so I'm guessing that the former might be the better option.

Wunderbar! That seems to have worked. Thanks. We've just started adding some 64 bit workstations. Is it just a case of adding both 32 and 64 into the GPO, and the install will just fail for the incorrect machine?

Nope, so let me double check the extract. I get jre1.7.0_45-c.msi and java_sp.dll

I haven't got around to an update since 7u25. Mind you that was probably only a couple of weeks ago (or June, possibly).

Anyone having any luck with 7u45? I've accessed the MSI using the instructions in Ivan's blog, but neither Orca or InstEd will seem to open it (aside from whether to use a transform or edit directly). As mentioned above though, InstEd won't open the MSI. It looks like Orca is one tool used to create transforms. Are there any others?

Do they do this over anything other than ports 80 and 443? I remember mention by our LA of need to open up more of the firewall.

I've never tried transforms, and used the guide above with the Orca editor.

Hi folks, I'm trying to deploy Java 7u45 with GP. Previously I've used Orca to edit the MSI file as per this helpful guide How to package and deploy Java JRE 1.6.0_26 via Group Policy | ivan's blog Now when I edit the 7u45 MSI file I get an error that it has "Failed to open MSI database". Anyone know if there's a workaround, or an alternative to editing the MSI? TIA

So is the online bit in Sharepoint? And does it increase the CPU load on the originating SIMS server?

Own money, so buying outright. Will it have the temp etc. sensors of the Note though? Those are something I'd really like. It makes you wonder what's wrong with it...

Sorry, no Agreed, but I like the size of the Note. Nice and stripped down it seems, but I like the sensors on the Note e.g. temperature, humidity, and barometer. Aside from the size. Not come across it, I'll go have a look... Odd, because my 4S is much slower, and unstable. The music app just crashed playing music!

I'm struggling to decide what phone (or even tablet) to get. Current options: - Note 3. Pros: size, Android. Cons: iTunes integration (I've tried Google Music, but it doesn't work with Smart playlists), rebuying apps e.g. TomTom, possible region lock issue. - iPhone 5S. Pros: easy with iTunes, AirPlay, no need to rebuy apps. Cons: iOS7. - Nexus 7 (2013 version). Pros: size, Android. Cons: obviously not a phone, so means carrying a phone as well. - Do nothing. Currently I have an iPhone 4S, but iOS is slow and buggy. Anyone want to pontificate about it? :-)

For some reason it bugs me, unless a T-shirt where the reverse is true. Yep, I can't cope with long sleeves. Archetypal IT geek short sleeved shirts for me. (Although I'm not sure how IT guys (and gals?) got the reputation for short sleeved shirts)
