@zag Veeam is quite well priced, but cloud backup costs are several thousand pounds (we're looking for somewhere between 5-10TB of space). The prices are surprisingly variable depending who you talk to, but I haven't contacted many suppliers. @FN-GM We use Veeam for whole VM backup locally, and I'm aware there are some companies with Veeam connectors that can be used for cloud backup (possibly including Redstor).

Hi folks, We currently use CrashPlan for file backup, which is cost effective, but I'm looking at backup of whole VMs to make any site recovery much smoother. I've looked at various solutions, with a wide range of costs. Most recently I've spotted that IDrive has a Hyper-V backup, and they would seem to be down the low end of cost. Does anyone out there do whole VM backup of Hyper-V, and can recommend a provider? Is it possible to do this to the cloud and get it to work, bandwidth-wise? (We have 500Mb) Thanks

Hi folks, Anyone seeing KB4041994 in WSUS? I'm not, but when switching to "check online for updates from Microsoft update" the PC sees it. Just curious as to whether all is OK with our WSUS install. Latest syncs have purportedly run without issue. All Windows 10 versions are selected. Thanks

Thanks all. Looked like it was a scope issue with the GPO. It was set to the relevant PCs, but missing "Authenticated Users".

Definitely a member of the domain group "Remote Desktop Users".

Hi folks, Trying to enable RDP on a mix of Win 10 and 7 clients. In the GPO, with these PCs in the scope, have enabled "Allow users to connect remotely by using Remote Desktop Services" (under Computer Configuration > Policies > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Remote Desktop Services > Remote Desktop Session Host > Connections). Yet still doesn't work. Domain firewall is off. Any ideas? Thanks

Hi folks, Can anyone recommend a system for generating embedded "books"? We want to take a booklet we give to parents currently, and embed it on our website, so the pages are turned etc. It has to be capable of embedding YouTube videos as well. Any recommendations? Thanks

It recurred again with the beta. I spoke to Smoothwall support, and they're wondering if it's related to using NTLM authentication. So they've added a new auth policy specifically for my PC, which uses just Core Authentication. Testing...

So far the Chrome beta hasn't had the problem...

It does seem to help, but the problem continues to recur.

Nothing. Someone else has suggested that perhaps the Smoothwall thinks the client is flooding it with requests, so is throttling that. Next time it recurs I'll give them a call.

I've had this for a few months now, hence the frustration. Currently on 61.0.3163.100 (Official Build) (64-bit). Will try the beta. Another thing I've tried is an IPCONFIG /RENEW, and setting to a manual IP. Neither made any difference.

Hi folks, Has anyone come across this Chrome problem, or have any suggestions? The issue is when I open more than a handful of tabs I start to get “Waiting for available socket…” on the new tabs, and the page doesn’t open. It’s only happening on my PC, so not a school wide issue, but still infuriating! The only thing that Google throws up is to open chrome://net-internals/#sockets and “Flush Socket Pools”. That works for a bit, but the problem keeps returning. Other browsers (IE and Edge) seem fine, but I don’t tend to open as many tabs, or use them for hours at a time. Things I’ve tried: 1. Flattened PC and reinstalled Windows (10 1703). 2. Latest network driver, latest PC BIOS update (Asus mobo with Intel NIC). 3. Alternative USB NIC. Odd things: this only happens when I’m using our Smoothwall as a gateway. If I switch to our second “normal” Internet connection (BT ADSL) it’s fine. Although the suggestion is this is a Chrome specific issue, rather than something downstream of that. Any ideas? Thanks

Hi folks, We have an issue with our WSUS server where it seems to become unresponsive. This happens every few hours, and a reboot fixes it. In the WSUS console we just get "Error: Connection Error. An error occurred trying to connect to the WSUS server. This error can happen for a number of reasons etc.". There's an option to "Reset Server Node", but this does nothing. It's also evident on the clients because they give the error "There were some problems installing updates etc. 0x80244022." I've run the cleanup routine, but no resolution. Server Manager doesn't show any error. Any ideas? Thanks

Hi folks, I have a Word document with some tables in where the text has disappeared in some cells. If I switch on paragraph marks, I still see nothing. If the Word document is sent via gmail the text reappears. Also, if I view the document in Draft or Outline view the text reappears. If I copy the table to Excel, the text reappears. I can see nothing odd about the text or the formatting e.g. rulers seem to be in the right place. Any ideas how I can get this text to display?! Thanks

Unfortunately we don't use GAfE, so I'm guessing it would mean our 200 or so Y7s creating Google logins.
