Hi folks, Any suggestions for reducing junk email? Our Headteacher has complained about the volume of junk email being received – we use Office 365. My guess is that these ‘orrible companies know to target an alias on his mailbox that we have to keep in place for county communications. Any suggestions on what he can do to reduce the volume, short of either putting them in junk, or unsubscribing? Obviously his time is valuable, although we could alias headteacher@ to another mailbox, and/or ask his PA to check them. Thanks

What is the requirement on keeping SEN records, is that legislation? I know we only keep student records ordinarily for 7 years.

I'm going to try the pair recommended from Astounded, and if OK will buy another set for our second room (we're replacing in two classrooms).

I've followed up with Astounded.com, who asked for amp details as well and have been very helpful. I don't have room dimensions, but it's a fairly typical sized classroom for 30 students. We are supported by our county IT team rather than Capita, but I found I did have an account. For some reason I couldn't find the document on a first attempt, but searching for "sims permissions spreadsheet" has turned it up (Documents, on the right-hand side).

Hi All, 1. Is there a timeline of version names vs. numbers for SIMS? Just something simple, not after anything fancy. Google isn't turning up anything. 2. Where do I get the latest version of the permissions spreadsheet? The one that lists roles vs. granular permissions. Google turns up various versions, but not the latest version, nor what seems to be the origin. I'm guessing it's somewhere on MyCapita, so requires a login. Thanks

@Esteban_Child_of_the_Sun I've figured it out. I had to selected the "Attendance marks" table on the right-hand side, then it gives me the ability to add selection criteria. Still struggling to get it to produce any results, but will tinker further...

Thanks both. @Esteban_Child_of_the_Sun I'm somewhat of a beginner when it comes to SIMS reports. When adding the field, how do I filter on it? I'm aware of how to use the filter section when creating the report, but now how to filter when actually adding the field. @Skelacia That's great, but I'm trying to report this across a range of dates (most likely from start of term). For example, I'd like to see the am late marks for each Year 11 student from the start of term. I'm doing this report for someone else, so not sure if they want percentage or something else, but I'm guessing percentage would be ideal. If it can't be created I can always edit the spreadsheet afterwards and calculate it.

Hi folks, I'm trying to create a report that only shows late registrations in the morning. There's a reportable field called "Late before reg", but that seems to be picking up both am and pm late registrations. Is it possible to report on just the am registration? Thanks

I did a bit more testing: VLC does open the DVD, but you can't skip the 4 minutes of trailers. If you skip anything it just drops you back at the start, so you have to wait for it all to finish. Thanks @sadams1980 as Media Player Classic is better than VLC, as it allows skipping of the trailers. Still takes 30 seconds to skip all the trailers, but a better option than VLC. I looked at ripping the DVD - legal grey area, we own several copies, just to get past all the trailer faff. VLC nor Handbrake will rip it properly, presumably due to all the copy protection. DVDFab will do it, but US$55.

Hi folks, (Applicable in various forums, but most applicable to Hardware I guess!) What do you guys use for an SMTP server for hardware alerts from servers, UPS's and the like? I have historically used the SMTP provided by Virgin Media Business, and I've also setup IIS on one of our VMs, but the former doesn't always work, and the latter of course is no use if the servers go offline. I'm guessing there's no reliable free SMTP server, so are there any simple/foolproof paid servers? Thanks

Thanks all, the ProgramData delete seemed to be the key, and that's fixed it.

Previously I've uninstalled the SOLUS agent, then deleted Program files/Solus3 and Program Files (x86)/SIMS. Wasn't aware of the ProgramData directories, so will give those a go as well.

I've had the error a lot from the SOLUS client, but this is a first for me getting it in the log but *not* via the client - the client just shows nothing needing installing. Already tried the uninstall and removal of SIMS/SOLUS, as mentioned in the OP. Hasn't worked this time.

Hi folks, We've got a laptop that I can't install the SIMS client onto. Initially this manifested when the SIMS client didn't update to the Autumn version, so I did the usual of uninstalling the SOLUS client, removing the SIMS install directory, the SOLUS install directory, and C:\WINDOWS\SIMS.INI. I reinstalled the SOLUS client which then normally fixes it, but although the SOLUS client has installed it's failing to install the SIMS client. I'm seeing the following over and over in the SOLUS log, and despite having rebooted the machine several times, and reinstalled SOLUS again, it gets no further. "Failed deployment. Another deployment is currently in progress." Any ideas? Thanks

Yes, only 3 times left on this particular drive. I remember it being around 5 times typically. I've changed to UK, as it's so rare to use DVDs now.

POT player wouldn't play it at all. Just displayed a black screen and nothing else. I got VLC to work, basically I could not skip any trailers or other chapters. I had to just wait and let it play properly, then eventually the menu opened. Kudos to @sadams1980 as Media Player Classic both plays it *and* allows me to skip trailers - I discovered though that the DVD drive in my PC was set on Region 1, which Media Player Classic cared about, but VLC doesn't.

Hi folks, Any SIMS reports gurus out there? I know how to create a Class List report (Reports > Student List > Class List) but I want to be able to create a flat list of all students studying a particular subject (Maths in this case) along with their class code. Is this possible? I know the basics of designing a SIMS report, but not quite sure how I'd create this. Thanks
