  1. I had a look at a Microsoft video which indicated this would be free as part of the Office 365 education tenancy..Free is always good if it does what it should do! Link to video - Microsoft Classroom, a new Office 365 service for teachers and students - MSPoweruser
  2. Vote doesn't seem to want to work for me ! Just down the road for me look forward to it if any places left
  3. Excellent info as I am looking at getting this and by the look of the info here worth every penny of the Licence fee
  4. Just had a look at Firefly thanks to your info geekgirl (hadn't come across this one yet) seems a credible platform which could remove some work off my shoulders! so I will investigate further into this.
  5. We have sort of given up on the whole VLE scenario as we have tried a few and all were not intuitive enough or just too complex for our needs, I am currently playing with our Office 365 tenancy and sharepoint (we also have the student advantage which gives all staff and students Office 2013 on up to 5 devices For Free!!!)as the replacement for a VLE type structure, VLE's used to be seen as this multimedia rich single access point for all student staff data relevant to teaching and learning, there is so much online now that pulling in free stuff together which is already there seems the way to go(especially with current budget constraints). I am currently testing "Teacher dashboard" for office 365 (free for 100 teachers) for staff to submit/collect assignments to/from students with SharePoint libraries for staff and student data, links to external sites we use (youtube, Mint class, SLG, MyStudyLife). The vision is to have access to everything needed for teaching and learning from one platform so that staff and students can access it all from home or school. OneDrive For Home directories Office 2013 Online/Offline Outlook for email SharePoint Libraries for in house resources Links to external subscriptions/sites Teacher Dashboard for submitting, collecting, marking assignments I couldn't tell you how long it will take me to there ebarr but I am enjoying the Journey thus far. (and so far it has all been free!) It is going to be a lot of work to get it exactly how we want it
  6. Thanks for your reply Fronter i have been going through this with our SIMS LA support guys, they have said i should look through the Capita knowledgebase (which i couldnt find!)to try and find a fix as they were unsure, i would assume it will take quite some time for them to sift through all our data trying to find duplicate entries etc.
  7. I am also having problems with the export...however it is a data issue and cannot find a desription of the error to rectify: Violation of PRIMARY KEY constraint 'PK__#vle_person_reco__0FE6CAB3'. Cannot insert duplicate key in object 'dbo.#vle_person_records'.The statement has been terminated. We had a message similar to this before and it turned out to be duplicate phone numbers in students data, that resolved i ran the vle export again and got the above error, i would asssume there is other duplicate data somewhere else in some records? Any ideas with this?
  8. you can check if you data export has been successful by logging into SIMS choosing routines----Data Out Vle then click the log link. When this opens choose search and it will give you a list of failures or success by way of date with a red cross if unsuccessful and a green tick i would assume if export was successful (we have not had a green tick yet as we are having issues with data).Choose the relevant date and it will open the log file there will be an error message if you scroll down further (if unsuccessful).
  9. we have had Oliver installed which works great and have had the Library of Congress database working in the z-cats but non of the others seem to work. I tried pinging some of the servers from home and got no reply, also telnetted some with no joy either. We run ISA 2004 and have added rules to allow the ports out for the various databases and still no joy and the only results we had were from the Library of Congress.
