Hi, Does anyone know if I can shrink a disk in vSphere. From what I have read the disk needs to be in independent persistent mode.. can I change the disk mode with no adverse effects to then enable shrinking of the disk from VMware tools on the guest OS. There are no snapshots present. Hope that makes sense. Thanks in advance.

Hi, I would like some recommendations as to software that will sync two directory pairs between a file server and a NAS and will then monitor for changes and sync those changes please. I am after a file level backup basically as a "if all else fails" file restore. Thanks in advance.

I am not sure I have met you all before, how will we recognise each other in the melee ? Do you all have edugeek merch to wear ? -
On the KMS server at a command prompt: slmgr /dlv This will show the current licensing state. You can also use the VAMT tool. Download Volume Activation Management Tool (VAMT) 2.0 from Official Microsoft Download Centre

Hi All, It has been around 4 years since I used frog at my last school. Does anyone have any insights into the changes to it in that time ? (I have a feeling the subject of VLE's will be raising it's head here soon) Thanks in advance.

Hi, Yes it says that it's active. I'm currently preparing the csv so i'll see what happens. Thanks for your help. Update: It's working spot on.

That's great thanks, confirms what I thought.. Any ideas why it told me the domain wasn't verified again as soon as I manually added a user with @schoolrealdomain ?

Hi, So I have convinced SLT that O365 is the way forward (from Zimbra L2ICT in bham). I have signed up, verified my domain via TXT file in DNS and I am now ready to start setting up users etc.. For now I was going to upload a CSV with the users in, I have a couple of questions: 1) When selecting A2 licences I assume I have to add as many faculty and students as I have at the school or do I select 1 licence for each that covers everyone ? 2) What's the best way to add the users now before the 'go live' date: I.e. do I use the actual email domain or the @schoolname.onmicrosoft.com one? and change it later using the O365 control panel (I added a test user using the real email domain and I immediately got a warning about needing to verify the domain to qualify for education pricing, even though I already have done this... I assume this is because the actual MX records are not updated yet, which I'm not ready to do just yet. Just a strange warning that put me off balance slightly... It's like it was saying the email domain wasn't verified again) I hope that makes sense, thanks in advance. Nick.

I've always used Brodit mounts. They come in two parts, one to suit the device and one to suit the car. The part that attaches to the car is non damaging to the interior as well. If you change the car or the device you only need to change the corresponding mount or car clip. Even if they don't make the mount for the Tesco Hudl you could still use the car portion and mount a generic Hudl holder to it. I've always found them rock solid and they find some really ingenious ways to fit them to the dashboard without damaging it, usually in a variety of positions around the dash. For Example: http://www.brodit.com/productList.html?lrhandDrive=rhd&brand=Land+Rover&model=Discovery+1%2B2&year=2000&pn=prod

This: Delete Failed DCs from Active Directory ?
-
You could check the NTDS settings in Active Directory Sites and Services for signs of the old server.. see if the new DC is still trying to replicate with the dead one ?

Thanks for the input everyone. I will certainly have to consider this very carefully.

Hi All, We currently run Sibelius 7.1 and Cubase 7 on our Music computers which are not joined to the domain and everyone logs on as a local user. I have had a request from SMT to investigate putting these computers on the domain. Now obviously I would prefer this from a management perspective but I need to consider the technicalities of actually running this software as a locked down regular student user. I know in the past the conventional wisdom was to not have music computers on the domain for various reasons.. (which I'm not sure were all true to be honest.) I'm wondering what the state of play is now regarding this, what do you all do with your music computers and joining them to the domain? Experiences of running this software on a computer that is domain joined? Thanks in advance, Nick.

I'm going, if for no other reason than to listen to them trying to explain themselves.
