We use Sophos and have done for years and i have no complaints about it. Pros, Intuitive Interface Mac and PC Management Install and Forget Does remove viruses if configured to do so Good endpoint security tools Cons, Heavy on the processor when updating so slower PC's may suffer. Never used NOD32, but always reminds me of the Brotherhood of NOD from the command and conquer games. LOL Regards.

Just create a taskpad using the mmc, restriced to what you want them to do. No need for extra software.

How about U-571, quite possibly the most historically inaccurate film EVER !

Another vote for frog here, and it can be leased to spread the cost out. We use syscap leasing for that, but frogtrade sorted it all out for us. Also I agree that moodle is not free and takes a bit of setting up.

you need to add switches to the command line of ghost.exe on the disc. try here for references: Switches: Cloning hope that helps

I was also very impressed with the Extricom wireless system when we had a demo here, they also used a couple of VOIP handsets and we could actually see the signal moving between the dumb AP's. The guy even unplugged a couple while we were talking and the signal didn't miss a beat, no drop at all. It was however very expensive (£20k) compared to other systems and we couldn't justify it. We went with a colubris system in the end which is ok, but nowhere near as good as the Extricom would have been.

I would just like to point out that apart from the prospect of a managed ICT solution that fills me with dread, not only for my job security but also for the standard of education we will be providing to our children - the future of our country, by SELLING our schools to private companies. It is a smack in the face to those of us that do provide comprehensive and successful ICT services to the schools we look after. We have had ZERO consultation in the process, i was asked by the head to attend a meeting "to find out what this BSF is all about" and once it was realised the scope of the changes proposed i was summarilly excluded by the LA and by the SMT. - What this says to me is that they do not care what the people on the front lines who actually may know something about school based ICT think. We have been treated with nothing but contempt and disregard so far. And this is why BSF and the Managed ICT "Service" will always be viewed with apprehension and scepticism by myself and the others who do a damn good job.

New ICT Support Technician - Needs Advice - Please
Trojan replied to james_richards's topic in Educational IT Jobs
I too started out as a uni placement student and have worked my way up from there to being an ICT Manager. Having recently sat on interview panels for ICT Technician Roles, I can tell you that experience is equally as important as qualifications, but it does not outweigh them. You can always tell the bluffers as well, so have a solid knowledge of your field before going into the interview / filling in the application form. It's also a difficult time in schools at the momment with BSF, and many heads are even more reluctant to hire technical staff than they usually would be. Just keep trying and you'll get there. Hope this helps. -
No you don't !

Anybody use 'cheap' fake toner in their OKI's?
Trojan replied to Ben_Stanton's topic in How do you do....it?
We only use original toner in our HP 4600, 4700, 2600 and 2550 printers. Wouldnt touch compatibles with a barge pole. Our consumbles budget is approx £25K. From past experience the compatibles are just not worth it with poor print quality and significantly reduced printer life.
