  4. this has really cheered me up - great start to a Friday. Superb work by the Ferret. What was his name anyways?? The dog bit reminds me when our next door neighbour put her Border Terrier in the loft to catch some mice, he'd made his way into our loft through the eaves and fell through our loft hatch - scared the crap out of me and my Bullie at the time (arch-enemy of the Border Terrier) thought it was a gift from the gods!! lol
  5. Chuckle...... good idea tho!!
  6. This was my initial thought that it may have been against a damp wall, but it's on a wall that backs onto the stair-well, no signs of damp or heat damage. Its quite old i believe approx 5 years old. I think an outright replacement will be needed, just wanted to know if there were anything else we could do in house to solve. Thanks for you time.
  7. Hi Was just wondering if there is any way of rectifying a warped board? Or would we have to install a complete new replacement. The board in question is used in our Prep School and mainly used for Handwriting exercises, which is now proving difficult as just slightly to the left from the middle of the board is warped. Would like some general advice on this if possible and if there could be anything we could do in house to solve. Ta

  9. good luck - where you off to now then?
  10. In both schools i've worked the staff don't have access to pupils personal files saved on the network - generally they asked us if there was anything they needed to look at but there wasn't really must call for this. However both schools had / have a student share area on the network where the pupils can upload their work to checked over by teachers. I think the latter option is the best.

  13. Not found anything overly interesting but when I was working as a Repair Engineer for a laptop company, I had several jobs to fix under 'warranty'. The main cuplrits were teachers claiming that their laptops had just stopped working - cause of issue on one of them was surprising, a glass of red wine had been spilt over the keyboard, you can imagine the smell after a couple of days in transit!! another one included a maths teacher who was claiming that his laptop was over heating and was actually melting the keyboard, he was very concerned and wanted a replacement machine. Problem was very clear to see upon opening the said laptop - strange how the melted keys were in the shape of an Iron!! me thinks his wife was uphappy with him!! but generally normal cat hairs and dust bunnies inside PC's
  14. Hi this has 'somehow' resolved itself now - not sure if it needed a couple of days to think about sorting itself out... Thanks for the prompt reply tho

  18. Hi all - as a newby i'm not sure that this is in the correct forum, but i need some help with our Service Desk Plus. We currently have 3 tech supoprt engineers in the Senior School and a part time one who works in the Prep School. The tech from Prep asked me the other day how to edit a call she had logged - I advised her how to do this, but she is not listed as a technician, just a general user. I tried to add her as a techinician but, as i'm new here, only found out we only have licences for 3 technicians, which are being used by us in the Senior School. However since doing this (and not actually changing her role) see is now unable to see any of the calls she's logged since, well, ever!! Does anyone have an idea what may have happened?? have checked that she is selecting the right view but no jobs show at all. Any help would be greatly appreicated

  20. Hullo I've recently moved from a Girls Grammar School in Grantham to an Independent Girls School in Bramley, Guildford. Love working in IT and being a positive role model for the girlys! However, had it VERY easy at my previous position and now actually have to learn a ton of stuff including WSUS - hence why coming onto EduGeek!! lol.
