  1. The only issue I could see with Verkada for CCTV is the ongoing costs. We currently have the Verkada access control system which is quite expensive in the long run. I have just put in a UniFi Enterprise NVR which was just released a couple of weeks ago which can do pretty huge capacities and is stackable.
  2. Have a look at the Verkada CCTV solution if you don't want to host an NVR.
  3. Just having a look at that EFG myself and looks like a tempting offer worth at least looking into as the costs for Sophos Firewall are becoming ridiculous, they are upping the price significantly each time we renew. For 3k you can get a pair of EFG for high availability...
  4. Interesting to to see that UniFi Dream Machine Pro Max is under consideration by some, are the firewall/filtering options comparative these days to things like Smoothwall? Can you be granular enough to filter based on AD group membership etc ?
  5. Hi there We have upgraded one of our 2 DC's and have not seen any issues thus far. It was just a secondary DC that does not hold any FSMO roles, I did this as I want to make sure all is good for a month or so before contemplating doing the primary DC. I would check to make sure it is not a time sync issue you are having. Is the date/time correct on the client machines you are having issues with because if not that will be your issue. It may be related to secure time...
  6. I can see the downloads but it only shows a MAC key. Cannot see any KMS keys which is unusual it is usually that you have to contact Microsoft to request a MAC key not the other way around. I want to activate using Active Directory Based Activation...
  7. Once you've got MECM up and running consider looking at Big Bang LLC UIU utility (MECM Plugin). I have been using this for 15 years now and it makes life so much easier not having to worry about drivers, support is also first class...
  8. Unifi Enterprise or Pro Max all the way...
  9. In terms of trying to find a commonality do they all use the Intel ARC drivers per chance? I know Intel has been having significant issues with these...
  10. Hi there Identical issues here that have been causing chaos at times. What brand and model of laptops are you using?
  11. Hi there Just wondering if anyone else is deploying Dell Latitude 5350 laptops using SCCM/MECM and the Dell Command Driver packs? If so What version of the driver pack are you deploying as we are having significant issues with drivers on these laptops and are using A03 version of the driver pack.
  12. Issue resolved after reviewing Wireshark logs, svc.ms whitelisted

  14. Hi all We are having issues with Microsoft Whiteboard web app. When trying to load an existing Whiteboard it just sticks at "Loading content". If we create a new Whiteboard it appears to setup correctly but you then see a message stating "Trying to reconnect... Changes can be lost if you keep editing, reload, or navigate away.". We use Sophos Firewall (Previously XG) and cannot see anything being blocked on the log viewer. Any ideas?
  15. We have not personally experienced this but I have heard on the grapevine that the 2024-09 Cumulative update can cause random black screen issues. If you can remove the 2024-09 Cumulative update on an affected machine and test I bet money that is your issue. It could also be that Microsoft have reissued this cumulative update at some point which would explain why this is not occurring for everyone...
  16. Hi there We have not seen this. Do your domain controllers have the latest cumulative update installed 2024-09? Microsoft's patching lately is getting worse and worse and the first port of call for me would be to see if it has been happening since a recent update was applied on the server. If not apply it, I know there were issues with domain controllers on a recent cumulative update but 2024-09 seems stable...
  17. We are using Windows 10 LTSC 2021 on most of our desktops and have done for years apart from the Art department which needs a SAC edition to support Adobe Creative Cloud products so we are deploying Windows 11 Education in that room this Summer along with Windows 11 Education also being deployed to our new teacher laptops this Summer. I anticipate sticking with Windows 10 on the desktops for a couple of years yet due to the lack of funds to replace old kit that simply wont run Windows 11...
  18. Been using Teams fine on LTSC for years...
  19. As of this Summer we deploy a mix of Windows 11 Education SAC with Office 365 and Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC with Office 2021 LTSC. Reality is though that Office365 does actually work on LTSC fine and how often if ever do we ever call Microsoft for support...
  20. I have previously checked this with Microsoft and it absolutely is supported and you would be surprised how many schools use it. There is nothing atall preventing us from using it regardless that they recommend we use SAC.
  21. Just deploy Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 2019 or 2021 on any PC's that wont run Windows 11 and you will be supported by MS till at least January 2027.
  22. Hi there, did you ever get to the bottom of this?

    Office x64

Hi all Am I right in thinking most people have now moved over to 64 bit editions of Office in schools? We currently still deploy 32 bit however as we are about to reimage machines it is a good opportunity to revaluate this. Is there any major gains for actually doing it otherwise I may as well leave it be...
  24. Finally resolved the issue which was 2 fold. Set the group policy "Do not connect to Windows update service locations" to Disabled and then found the Sophos firewall was blocking Store Apps from updating under the "Risky downloads" category. "System files" which is a sub category of "Risky Downloads" has been allowed which in turn has resolved the issue...
