cookie_monsta replied to cookie_monsta's topic in Office Software
Sadly MS "Support" have not been very helpful at all with this issue and they was firmly advised that its not possible to assign a bespoke policy to a certain group of students. -

Hi Arthur; Same GPOs being deployed - updated ADMX obtained too. I had very little to do with base build of the 1809 LTSC image. But the language pack might be something to investigate further. Something to re-visit on Monday -

Enterprise mode didn't work either Seems that only LTSC build machines are the issue - sadly thats the build we are going to use across the board come the summer :/ any other suggestions are welcome too! -

Tried - sadly the "portal" launches a pop-up but even then it makes no difference. Would love to get a replacement but current we don't pay for this "service" as the developers were once employees here. - - - Updated - - - Yeap - tried that. No joy Going to explorer the option of Enterprise mode after an early lunch, Thanks Cookie -
Good morning, One of the schools in our foundation would like to use Microsoft Teams with the younger students. However the default policies allows near enough everything. I have created a bespoke policy which should stop students messaging each other via Teams etc. However, I am unable to apply this bespoke policy to a certain group of students unless I apply the policy manually. (might be worth noting that there are 3 other schools in our foundation and all 4 are covered by the same O365 subscription) Does any one have a suggestion how to apply a policy based on group membership or another identifier for a certain set of students? Microsoft support have been as useful as a chocolate fireguard (apologies to all good fireguards out there). Many thanks in advance Cookie

Good morning Wondering if any is able to assist with strange issue. Recently we have rebuilt some campus computers with Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC (1809). Most application work as expected. However, a registration system that needs to use IE doesn't quite work and is not displayed correctly. This what is seen: However, this is how it should be displayed: Sadly the company who has designed this interface only support IE ( ). They have suggest to apply further windows updates which have not helped at all. The interface displays as expected on all builds of Windows 10 bar LTSC 1809. Does any one have any further suggestion? Many thanks in advance. Cookie

Assigning 365 licences using Powershell
cookie_monsta replied to cookie_monsta's topic in Cloud Services
Hi Norphy, I have tidied up our target year group OUs in on-prem AD, ensure that the they have the correct group membership etc. I have also created a new Global group in on-prem AD - for example, I have called it Year 1 students, and it is now also appearing in the Azure portal in group. I think I have see where/how I can assign a licences. I cannot thank you enough for your advice. Now to make this work before my Easter weekend begins. Hope you have a great one!! Assigning 365 licences using Powershell
cookie_monsta replied to cookie_monsta's topic in Cloud Services
Hi @Norphy and @Boredguy, We are using AAD to sync between on premise AD and EMC and O365. I will investigate the Azure AD portal option and then suggest this to the powers that be. Ideally we wanted a script that any global admin can run when and if needed but if its more efficient (and easier) using cloud based group instead; I will suggest this. Thanks again Cookie- 24 replies

Dear all, I am hoping that there is a PowerShell and Office 365 Guru that I can approach for some assistance. I have been trying in vain to get a PS script to work that will assign certain service plans within a O365 licence. I have successfully ran a PS script to extract the users from a specific OU in Active Directory in to a CSV file. What I/we would to achieve is to assign a Microsoft Teams licence/service plan from the STANDARDWOFFPACK_STUDENT Licence pack to those that are listed in the CSV file(s). The others Service Plans such as Yammer etc., should remain either unassigned or disabled. I tried different variation of commands etc., but still fail to achieve what I/we need to. One script ran through, didn't error but nothing got assigned either. All the intended users have been manually assigned a ProPlus 365 Student licence - though I/we do have a script that works for the this task. If anyone has any advice or guidance; it will be very welcome. Many thanks in advance, Cookie

Hi Tango, Sorry to bump this thread but did you ever find a fix for this issue? We are in the process of deployed 2.?.? but in the still in the testing stage. I have deployed the software successfully but each time a new user launches the app on the same client, the sdk files extract and stores the 'data' in a locally cached area for - which access the local C drive is blocked for students. Ideally we would like GPP or a reg hack to redirect to the students storage area on the network. Hope to hear from you. Thank you in advance. Cookie

We use KRCS (based in Nottingham and are an approved Apple reseller), iPads are deployed to 3 schools within our foundation to each child. Early years in the Prep school remain securely locked on campus during the evening but the rest are allowed home. 2 schools use meraki/DEP but the girl school have no restrictions at all. KRCS have been involved since our iPad program was conceived in 2012 and have been nothing other than excellent. All iPads are insured for theft and damage too. Drop me a private message with your email I will send it on to the Educational manager.

Hi! After opinions on the TP-Link Archer C7 wireless router..... I need a new one for home and budget isn't huge. I've looked at this quite a bit and think it will be ideal but still apprehensive (don't know why though) My budget wont stretch to a asus rt-ac68u sadly Any one have the Archer C7 or recommend something similar/better for a similar price (£86 ish from Dabs is the best I can find with a free £40 USB AC dongle) Thanks in advance Cheers Cookie

how do I check? no other staff members are reporting this problem. Mine turned on and off as expected thanks Cookie -
Hi All, I have encountered a strange occurrence. A domain user who has a Outlook 2010 account has turned his Out of Office/Automatic reply off. However, any news email senders receive an OOF message back. I have checked in Outlook and OWA and it says it is off for both internal and external senders. Turning it on and off again does nothing. I have also ran "Get-mailbox -identity | Get-MailboxAutoReplyConfiguration" in powershell on a our exchange server and there it also advises it is disabled Does any one have a permanent fix for this? Many thanks in advance Cookie

Hi all, Just wondering if any one has successfully installed Lego Mindstorm via GPO successfully? If yes, How? I seem to be going round in circles. and how did you manage to separate the student and teacher installations? The Mindstorm technical team do not offer any technical support on network installs... Any advice is welcome. Many thanks in advance Cookie

Hi Weibbe, Many thanks on your post about AirPlay over Bluetooth. Will be very handy I am able to get it to work. I have updated both my iPhone (5S) and iPad (64gb 4th gen) to iOS 7.1 and an Apple TV to 6.1 All 3 have Bluetooth on, and discoverable, however they don't find each other. Am I missing a trick or two here to enable AirPlay over Bluetooth? I am trying in vain but nothing seems work. Can you shed some light or advise please? Many thanks in advance, Cookie

thanks for this info Tom, Do you know where the files get 'temporarily' stored while they sync together? Majority of the documents are of a sensitive nature....

Hi all, I am hopeful of getting some advise please... The Bursar here works all day long on an iMac that is not connected to our Windows network other than for internet access. He also has a MacBook Air which he takes everywhere with him. Both devices has Mac Office 2011 installed. The MacBook Air occasionally is used on the move so has a mi-fi usb adaptor. He would like to sync files/folder between the two so it doesn't matter which machine he is working on, he has access to the same documents. He would like to avoid Dropbox etc. I believe he is running Mountain Lion on both devices. Someone mentioned Carbon Copy Cloner but I am not sure if that software can be used for individual folders/files or not. Any advise is welcome. Many thanks in advance, Cookie

Balsamiq - MockUps for Windows software
cookie_monsta replied to cookie_monsta's topic in Educational Software
Phew!! Got this one blitzed!! My original bespoke MSI worked only for administrators on networked machines. Still using the Virtual Win 7 machine and Scalable WinINSTALL, I took my 'before' snapshot, giving my bespoke MSI an appropriate name etc. I copied the MockUpsForDesktop folder found in the zip file downloaded from the Balsamiq website into c:\program files (x86)\ (as advised on their installation 'instructions'). On my own PC, I then created a balsamiq.bat file containing: @echo off "Balsamiq Mockups.exe" register "" START "" "Balsamiq Mockups.exe" (remove the <>) Using a .bat to .exe convertor (from F2KO Software | Startseite) I then created a balsamiq.exe file. This was then placed in c:\program files (x86)\MockUpsForDesktop\ (on the Win 7 Virtual pc) Back to WinINSTALL, I took my 'after' snapshot and created my MSI. I have tested installing the msi manually which was successful, as was deploying the file via GPO. Launching the software as a teacher and student was seamless and both users had the same number of days remaining on the licence. Thanks to those who advised on this topic and I hope my method helps someone. Cheers Cookie
